Emby Server: 3.1.172

HDHomeRun Connect Device Firmware: 20160928beta1

 

I cannot stream Live TV on any device that is capable of Direct Play. (Emby Theater, Android App on Nvidia Shield Tablet)

 

- With Emby Theater I get a spinning circle and no Live TV stream

 

- With Android App I get a PLAYBACK ERROR. There was an error processing this request. Please try again later.

 

If I request Live TV on clients that require transcoding (Web UI - Roku), then the Live TV stream plays correctly.

 

Was previously on Firmware 20160604, but thought an update to latest firmware might help. But, same result.

Yup, same here. I hadn't realized it was with direct play, only. Nice catch. I had reported that ET wouldn't play but everything else would. That's because they were all transcoding. When I test using the android mobile app with my phone connected to my LAN, I get the message you mention. "There was an error processing your request "

I am seeing the same thing. Works on webclient and Roku but not my Samsung S7 Edge. Thought it was a issue with the andriod client.

From what I am seeing, if the client needs to TRANSCODE Live TV stream it will play, if the client can DIRECT PLAY the Live TV stream, then it IS NOT playing.

No change in 173. 

 

UPDATE:

 

Now I can't watch live tv at all. And each time I try, it locks up an additional tuner. And now, when I restart the server to release the turner, the server won't restart and I get an error. So I have reboot the whole system, for the server to run.

No change in 173. 

 

UPDATE:

I am not experiencing that behavior with 3.1.173. Same as before for me.

 

- Direct Play Live TV does not work, Transcoded Live TV does work. Tuner is released after successful or failed stream in limited testing.

The dashboard reports its transcoding, but all I get is a black screen. If I use the Android app when outside my network, I get a black screen (the same as all other platforms), but when I close the app, the tuner is released. Using other apps installed on my computer, the tuner is locked.

 

I've rolled back to stable, for now. I can't keep restarting my computer over and over.

Well stated. You are experiencing the exact same behavior that I am and why I initiated this thread.

 

I have two (2) HDHomeRun Connect devices, but our experiences are the same.

 

  • DIRECT PLAY of Live TV Stream: NO
  • TRANSCODE of Live TV Stream: YES

And with 174, I am experiencing the exact same thing. I can now watch transcoded tv again, and after a failed attempt to direct play, a few minutes later, the tuner does release. Also, with the Tuner 0 still active with the failed attempt, if I try to watch that same channel through transcoding, I am able to.

@Luke, could the issue be that there is a new firmware update? I am running 20160617atest1. I did notice there was a new one as of 20160928. Has anyone updated to that version and still see a issue?

Upgraded to 20160928beta1 firmware and no change.

Same here with same version firmware, running against Dev release of Emby server.

The HDHomeRun app on my Shield TV's is working fine.
