No media playback on OMV

Hi everybody,

 

i have some playback-issues with my Emby-server, installed on Openmediavault. There is simply no Playback on any media files (mp3s and movies). Pictures wore well. When clicking on playback at an mp3-file, the playback controls are appearing, but the playback-counter ist stuck at 0:00. Same behavior in all browsers (chrome, firefox, edge), even on the android app.

Because my Linux-skills are only minimal above zero, i have no clue what is wrong.

 

The installation process was:

 

- creating the user WAW

- creating a folder over samba and copying the media files in there

- installing ffmpeg (via apt-get)

- installing Emby

 

Result fur ls- l /path_to_media are:

Hi, your installed build of ffmpeg is very, very old. Please update that, or if you can't update it, then you can obtain a new copy, download it to a folder of your choice, and then configure it in the emby server dashboard under Playback -> Transcoding.

Ok, i thought, i would get the latest verison vie apt-get install ffmpeg.

So i downloaded the git-version from your link, unpacked it and copied it via samba to a new folder media/.../ffmpeg and set the transoding-path to this folder.

After restarting the server, still the same behavior.

Executing the command ./ffmpeg in said folder (as root via ssh), aborted  with "-bash: ./ffmpeg: Keine Berechtigung" (No authorization).

 

(maybe i should change to a windows server... :D)

Just for any one else. I use open media vault and downloaded the static builds. Popped them in /opt/ffmpeg and it worked a treat.

 

So can confirm this solution works
