Slow interface on DS414

Hi guys!

Installed Emby Server on my DS414 yesterday.

Works like a charm, but the interface is rather slow.

I'm using direct play through path substitution and that is playing like a charm.

It's just that starting/logging on and navigating through the folders is slow.

Is that something that's work in progress, or do i need to buy a faster NAS?

I'm running a Gbit Network.

BTW: library Refresh takes around 6 minutes, compared to 1 minute when server was also running on my HTPC, but that's something i can live with.

I would suspect system specs but could wrong, not a nas users but is there a way to monitor your system resources?  I bet they are nearly maxed out with any process.

As for your issue are there any schedule task running when you have this issue?  You would need to post a log file.  Also do you have "real time monitoring" enabled on your libraries?

The fact that the dbase scan is slow was just a matter of me putting the performance into perspective.

It's not an issue, i can understand that it costs some effort, but it runs scheduled.

Might be an idea to specify the priority of the reload to low.

I'll have a look into the system resources. Don't know if there's a log for that.

At idle i run at 22% cpu load and 55% ram load.

Forgot to mention; Web performance is quite good actually. IT's the MCE Plugin that's rather slow.

Just disabled DLNA, let's see how that goes.

Just tested. Cpu is going up, but not maxing out. It goes wrong upon opening a tv show folder. It sort of hangs for a while. Whereas when i use the webview at the Same time it works okay.

Been thinking about this; it seems that the delay happend when entering 'larger' folders. Folders with single files are quick enough.

What causes this delay? Logically thinking only some text and JPEG's have to be sent over the network?

This shouldn't take up to much resources?

No problem. I'm in Cuba at the moment, so that'll have to wait till i'm Back.

Does the log provided above give any insight?

Hello @@MikeyMan

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If you haven't already updated to the latest stable (3.0.8200), can you do so and send the logs again please.

One thing I can see, is that you have debug logging switched on, can you switch this off.

It's generating a lot of IO, especially when new media is detected or there are changes to your media.

On your system, I would also suggest disabling "Enable real time monitoring", which you can find under "Manage Folders" for each configured library.

Hello @@MikeyMan

A bit of further information for you. There's an issue with the Mono runtime that has prevented us updating to the latest version on ARM based devices.

We've almost got to the bottom of that and should be in a position to start testing within the week.

If you'd be happy to test, I can make it available to you once we have it built.
