Store chapter images in media folders

How about an option to store, and look for, chapter images in media folders? In a subfolder, for each media item, named "chapterimages".

It seems odd that other metadata images can be stored in the media folders, but chapter images cannot.

I think it would be useful for a couple reasons. One is that I do not need to extract chapter images again if I totally uninstall MBS (clearing all its settings and DBs) and reinstall it. Another is that the chapter images could eventually be used by other programs as well, once they are adapted to the new format for storing chapter images that MBS would define.

While I suppose you could have chapter images in your media folder in addition to the other metadata already present, you would probably want chapter images to remain stored on your computer when you consider cache.  This is especially important for those that are using file based raid solutions.

Picture this... you have a NAS similar to that of Unraid or maybe Flexraid where the drives are spun up only when data is being read off of them so as to minimize the wear on your drives when not in use.  If you were to browse your media library, then just trying to decide what you might want to watch could inadvertently spin up all your drives as you are just clicking around and looking at movies.  With that essentially in cache on your Windows system running the server, the drive of the movie that you end up watching will be the only one that spins up even after browsing through your selection.

Huh? There is already the option for most other stuff like backgrounds, thumbnails, banners, and posters to be stored in the media folders. Having the option to store chapter images there as well will hardly make a difference.

Actually, that situation wouldn't happen as the server caches images.

So is MBS actually storing two copies of all the chapter images on my system drive? One, the primary image file, and another, the cache of the chapter image? Or do you mean that the cache is actually not really a cache, but primary storage for the chapter images?

it stores the original extracted one. clients will then ask for it at the sizes they want, and that smaller, resized version is cached to help spare your cpu from image processing the next time it gets requested. But all files in the cache folder are only kept for a maximum of 30 days.

Okay, that makes sense.

So is there any reason why there is no option to store the full-size extracted chapter images in the media folders? It seems like a logical thing to do, a perfect parallel for how all the other types of images can be stored in the media folders.
