jmac 0 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Hello! I was curious, is there a way to generate video preview thumbnails? With youtube, netflix, etc whenever you are seeking through a video, it'll show preview images so you can gauge where you want to start watching. Thanks!
Luke 39640 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Hi, some apps already support this. Getting it into all apps is something we'd like to do in the future.
noremacyug 3 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 What device is your client on jmac? I remux my MKVs purposely so I have scrubbing thumbnails on my ATV4.
jmac 0 Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 Thank you both for the replies! Hi, some apps already support this. Getting it into all apps is something we'd like to do in the future. So client apps support this and not the server itself? What device is your client on jmac? I remux my MKVs purposely so I have scrubbing thumbnails on my ATV4. I'm running emby-server on linux right now. All my clients are android phones/tvs.
noremacyug 3 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Surely android clients would support scrubbing thumbnails if I can manage it on a ATV4. You may have to remux to MP4, but still......
ebr 15576 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Specifically, the Roku (with appropriate plug-in) and Apple TV support this now.
jmac 0 Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 Specifically, the Roku (with appropriate plug-in) and Apple TV support this now. I see the roku plug-in. Does the apple tv support using that plugin or do they create them on-the-fly?
ebr 15576 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 The Apple TV supports it natively - but only with mp4 videos.
