jscoys 143
Hi, Yesterday evening my girlfriend had an issue : when she started playing the new season of her prefered TV show, this one didn't run smoothly (maybe 1 or 2 fps...). I tried some other players, the same thing happened. Tried with evr + or evr. Evr was better better but 10 or 15 fps, no more... I checked the movie. Ha yeah I found it was H265... Ok I understood what the problem was. My girlfriend's computer is 6 year's old now... So I wonder if we could use the powerfull feature of Emby transcoding? Maybe we could have an option in ET for old system like that, an option like "force transcoding" and an other "to" with items like "H264" for instance. It would be great because it's not a problem for my server which has GPU transco with NVENC so it can handle it easily... I know it's not the "ET spirit" and we prefer direct play. But if it's an option, it would let us the choice to transco or not... And we would economize 600$ for a new computer in the same Time... jscoys 143
Yea it's a good idea. Thx Luc! Do you think of implementing this quickly? My girlfriend's so exciting about watching her favorite series Edited August 24, 2016 by jscoys
Luke 36887
For now just set the in-app bitrate low enough to force transcoding and that will give you an immediate solution.

Yeah I know Luke... But I don't know exactly what the source bitrates are... I don't want to Check for different bitrates in each files for all series and if seasons for a particular TV show has got different bitrates among episodes! And I don't want to put a minimum bitrate of 192 Kbps because it would be unwachable on a 17'. IMO not a solution really easy, but thx! 7illusions 1249
Is it hard to implement in ET? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Shouldn't be to much work, the Win10 app has this feature and it was easy to implement. BUT, that was a very simple solution for h265 only.. If you want a more generic solution for all codecs, it would be more work.
jscoys 143
No, thank you for your patience. Thx Luke ;-) you can implement the same option as the W10 app has (transcode H265) or if I can make a little suggestion it could be called "Old PC" or something like that and if we check this option it would transcode everything above H264, like H265 and future heavy codecs (H266, H267...). But would be so wonderful to have this in ET. Thx in advance!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

jscoys 143
Hello @@Luke! Want to up this post again. We really need an option on Emby Theatre side to force transco for H265. In my computer ecosystem I have powerless computers which can't play correctly H265. I download more and more H265 content because for the same content you save a lot of space! But clients tries to direct play these contents and it's just unplayed... please add this option, the same way as in the windows store version. PLEASE.
