Yes, mine average between 500-700MB.  So yours is rather low.

Mine is currently at 760MB on my Windows 2012 server.  Why the heavy usage when idle?  Is it loading the whole movie DB into memory or something?

No, we don't load the whole DB in memory but memory is abundant in today's systems and we will utilize available memory to make the system respond faster.

Thanks.  Not sure what abundant means to each person, however if you think an OS takes 4GB of RAM, Emby takes rounding 1GB of ram.  That's 5GB of RAM to start.  With nothing else running.  Average system has 6 - 8GB.  My server has 12GB but with all the other stuff running am at 70% utilization and Emby is at the top of every other process in the system so targeting that as an issue.  Guess have to deal for whatever reason that takes so much and perhaps up the RAM.

Thanks

I told you my OS above.  Now at 1.1GB of RAM being used by Emby or specifically MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe.  Do you have a memory leak in your app?

Its not an issue that you need to worry about particularly - windows handles memory management between apps quite well - i suspect even if Emby was taking 10 times as much ram you system would still function as it does now.

and the server os's are designed to deal with this

If you are not getting any errors then nothing is wrong

the amount of ram Emby uses is related to the size of you library - i.e. more films/tv etc you have the more info it must handle - and memory is far and away the fastest way to deal with any random request you may make for a movie you have not watched in years but fancy a watch now. If it paged to disk you would notice a significant lag in the film starting etc

I have seen Emby take well over 2gig and this is not a memory leak as if that were the case it would not return to lower levels when its done - say a db clean or library scan etc - my main emby server is on for days even weeks at a time an if there was a leak it would show up in that period.

Not that this is necessarily a problem, but the other day Emby wasn't playing one of my files (I resolved that) and I was just checking through the system. I was looking at memory consumption. Theater was sucking up increasing amounts. I ended up rebooting, but at time of reboot it had climbed to about 2GB and climbing.

Having the same issue now.  10-14gb at times.  What is the deal?  it slowly builds up over time and every 2 days I have to reboot due to hangs.  No scheduled tasks are running.
