Transcoding - Difference between permissions to HW decode or SW decode

Now that hardware acceleration is widely used, I need to suggest that inside user configuration can give permissions to HW or SW encoding separately.

Why? Maybe I want to allow only HW encoding because I don't want CPU spikes everywhere...

Or maybe somebody only desire SW encodings because sees more quality in it...

I suppose this is possible yes.

Permissions is not the same thing as desire. If you desire to switch it back and forth, then we should have that embedded into the video player.

Are you asking Emby to be able to support HW or SW decoding per user?

Or are you asking which we believe is better from actual usage?

Support HW or SW (or both) per user.

I like being able to have more ways to configure my experience. Usually Linux users are like this... they don't like the K.I.S.S.   :-))

Then I misused the word 'desire' , hehe. But that's a good idea, too, if possible.
