Yesterday I installed the latest official release 3.0.5970.0 and now the like button is gone from item views. Is this a known problem? I did a test with the latest dev release on my test system, and the same problem.

I think right now we just want to go forward with favorites, although community feedback is welcome. To be honest, the like buttons were just there, we weren't really using the data for a whole lot so it was starting to look like clutter.

I'm honestly fine with it.  Out of almost 6,000 movies, I only hit the dislike button twice. :D  Most people don't own movies they dislike.  Might be more useful for when you have several profiles though.

Reviving an old thread because I was thinking about the same thing. Please bring them back! I notice that Emby still seems to refer to the data because in Suggestions i see "Because you liked ..."

I realize that some people will not hold onto items they dislike, but when you have multiple people all accessing the same library it is very helpful to have Dislike eliminate that movie from all suggestions to that user. As an example, I dislike the Twilight series but my girlfriend likes them - guess they are staying in the db for a while then. Also, I like Event Horizon and Alien but she hates horror. Sucks having those show up in her Suggestions...

I'd like to be able to like and dislike again because we found it very helpful.

Thank you!

The "because you liked..." runs off favorites too. As likes and favorites are so closely related and 99% of the chromosomes match, like and favorites indeed share the same mother and father. Like fraternal twins they each remain independent, but look almost identical. So you can see how this feature was a victim of circumstance.

I do agree a "hated it!" list along with a button showing a picture of vomit is needed. This should work like favorites does already, and be browseable as a "hated it!" list. The items in "hated it!" do not appear in any other views, except the hated it list. This would give us back a "dislike" button, and make the dichotomy immediately clear. Having both a like and favorite mechanic is redundant.

Apps could have an "add to hated" just like they have an add to favorites. After adding to hated the items are invisible for that user. This would be easily accomplished for apps to incorporate. This is the best compromise to make.

To a point a do certainly agree with this, "Like" and "Favorite" are very closely related. HOWEVER I think both Like and Favorite are different enough that they should both be kept and used. If a movie is marked "Favorite" it should also be granted the "Like" status as well for filtering and suggestions, but there are plenty of movies I like but are not favorites - I don't watch them frequently but I also enjoy watching them again from time to time when the mood strikes. Having "Like" to improve suggestions and create a list of liked items that can be sorted as such without being a "Favorite" is a great tool.

And just to be "That Guy", even if Emby doesn't use "Like" and "Favorite" in it's algorithms doesn't mean there aren't plenty of people that use, want, and enjoy this ability. Is it really costing anything to keep it for those of us that like it?
