Evening

@@n00b42 - thanks, we're initially targetting DSM6, once that is done we'll circle back and take a look at how XPenology are getting on with a DSM6 release and then decide on our next move.

@@corey - I wouldn't expect any notable change in CPU utilisation, as far as a native Emby installation is concerned. What tuner are you using for your live TV feed?

@@mosanger - thanks.

If you are happy to SSH to your Synology boxes, I'd appreciate if you could reply with the output of the following two commands:-

    >> uname -a

    >> dmidecode -t 4

NOTE: If your system does not have dmidecode available, try the following cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -zoP "^processor\t: 0(\n|.)+?(?=\n\n)"

* see system_info_example2.txt for an example

You will need to login as root, which for DSM6 you would do as follows:-

- SSH to your Synology box and login as 'admin'.
- Switch to root with 'sudo -i'.

If you can reply with the output attached as a text file that would be great, but no problems if you want to cut and paste the output here instead - example attached.

Anybody with an x86_64 system I've missed above, apologies - please join in and let me know.

Thanks

- James

@@corey - I wouldn't expect any notable change in CPU utilisation, as far as a native Emby installation is concerned. What tuner are you using for your live TV feed?

- James

I'm using an HD HomeRun Connect. When I was running Emby in a Docker container the CPU was pegged at 100% because of the transcode of the MPEG-2 stream to MPEG-4. I thought this was because of the fact that Emby in the Docker container didn't have access to the CPU/Hardware features (like Intel QuickSync) that I would expect to be possible using Emby natively on a Synology.

See this thread for reference.

Afternoon @@corey

I suspect that Docker could be a factor here, but I don't have a braswell based system here to make any definitive conclusions.

As soon as we get the package out for testing, we'll be able to look into this a little more; it will be good information.

Are you able to grab this information - http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/34866-synology-package-in-development/?p=334777 for your system?

    1) Are you currently running Emby on Synology? If yes, which Synology platform are you using?

No, i can not find an ARMv7 Package for my ds216play

    2) Would you be willing to test development packages? (these will install in parallel and not touch or interfer with the existing installation)

yes if available

Flimby

Reading few latest posts I'm not clear on the status/availability of this Emby app. I've been without Emby since DSM6 came out which wasn't really a usefull update for me. I run a Diskstation 414

Hello @@Flimby

The headline for what we're doing here is http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/34866-synology-package-in-development/?p=329452

There's an interim update here with some screenshots http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/34866-synology-package-in-development/?p=331583

If you can help out, please take a look at http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/34866-synology-package-in-development/?p=334777 and post the information requested.

Initial target as noted above is DSM6/x86_64, we'll then look at other DSM versions/processor architectures prioritised by demand.

Best

- James
