darkomega69 0
I'm using the web client on chrome and all the videos will direct play just fine. But emby seems to keep transcoding certain videos. Attached below are logs for one that it does. It does it on both mkv and mp4 videos. Any ideas? transcode.txt server.txt Edited April 22, 2016 by darkomega69
Luke 36886
the browser can't plat DTS so the audio needs transcoding. It also can't play the graphic subtitles so it has to burn them in with transcoding. to avoid transcoding, consider not using the subtitles, or acquiring external text subtitles which don't need to be burned in. Luke 36886
we don't have any media info for that item so we are transcoding it. try refreshing it from the detail screen of the web interface, then play it again.

What happens if it's a home video for example? One wouldn't have media info for it. It'll just have to be transcoded all the time?
Vidman 589
Yes it should have media info, ffprobe should still extract this data from the file Edited April 22, 2016 by Vidman
Luke 36886
Yea they should always have media info. Maybe it was newly added and just hadn't been probed yet, or maybe the probe failed for whatever reason. It can be difficult to determine that after the fact so if you refresh from the detail screen and there's still no media info then we can look at the error message. Luke 36886
shutdown the server and delete C:\Users\7MC\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\refreshinfo.db then run a library scan, which might take a little while after deleting that file.
