geotux 4 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 After a few months of happy Emby usage, having managed to create order to my media and collections and get Emby to stream it all nicely, i want to now take the next step which is to start having content streamed through Emby. How do I get Youtube, Netflix, iPlayer to stream through Emby? Is the only way of doing this through the PlayOn app, through a subscribed account? So it would be ditching my Netflix acccount by getting to get it through Playon at the same price? But then how do i configure it as the only thing that you can add is the IP in the settings? ITV seems to be the only channel with its own app although its not working. Any ideas why (See below)? Luke 39003 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 You can't unless that have legal options available for developers to embed into apps and I don't think they do. The best you can do is launch the Netflix app from the emby app
geotux 4 Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 The Emby app? Which app, you mean the Android app?
Luke 39003 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 any emby app. it's the same situation on any platform.
Vidman 590 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 You should be able to access all those via playon, however that means you need to have playon running as well as emby and you still need to log in with your Netflix YouTube etc account details into the playon server to access your content
geotux 4 Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Ok, so Playon is not an option as its closed source and I would need a windows machine which is out of the question. No Microsoft in my house! I guess my next best option is to have Kodi installed on a Pi and have Kodi access EMby for all local content while it connects through the internet to fetch streaming. Does this sound right? If so, why would Kodi have better support that Emby to access these streaming options?

Some of the people who make third-party addons for Kodi aren't exactly known to care about copyright and legal rights to use streams. Such addons are not allowed for Emby. At least not in the Plugin Catalog.
Spaceboy 2563 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 We saw the iplayer plugin installed on developers servers 12-24 months ago but it was not released to the masses
