After toggling off "Allow Transcode", I was trying to understand which of my devices need or not to transcode and for which reason.

When using my Android device, I noticed that Emby for Android wouldn't play AC3 audio in normal streaming. It gives me the standard error when streaming is not possible because of no streams available.

But... if I choose "play with external player", the video runs normally in my installed VLC for Android.

So... what I understood:

- libVLC can't use AC3

- VLC can

How is that possible? Can you tell exactly which codecs libVLC supports?

So that's even more strange.

I remember seeing someone post a feature request asking that the transcode monitor shows what is being transformed, so we could understand the reason.

Anyway, is there any reason why would libvlc transcode, where vlc won't?

In server logs, it says the video is eligible for direct play and direct streams, but it also says it doesn't find any direct play profiles...

Odd, right?
