Will there be an option sometime soon to configure automatic log out (after a certain amount of inactivity and after restarting)? This might be the last thing keeping me from starting a trial replacement of WMC (so exciting!).

Yes it's a good idea for the future.

Is this something that might happen in the short term or is this way down the list? Seems pretty important for those of us who want to restrict access by kids but I can understand if there are many more pressing things that need attention first.

If it's not coming anytime soon, I can deal with it. Would be nice to know though. :)

Is it perhaps possible to log out the user via the server? In particular, if I could make a REST call to log the user out, even if I had to take the extra step of killing and restarting the client process, I'd have a workaround I could make do with for the time being (windows scheduled task to log the user out overnight).

It isn't on the roadmap so it will be a while.

Roadmap is first post here: http://emby.media/co...ersion-testing/

You may be able to call delete on /auth/key/{key} and log out users. You can look at the API by clicking on API in the Web Dashboard.

I've added it to the list because that's pretty essential for a tv app.

How close is this to being worked on?

The feature is already there - it's been there for at least a couple of weeks.

You'll need to manually login once - and uncheck the "remember me" box. After that you'll be presented with the login screen each time you start Emby Theater.

Cool! I didn't notice it because it was already logged in after I upgraded, and I didn't see an option in settings.

However, does that also cause it to automatically log out after a certain period of inactivity? That's ultimately what is needed.

No, actually, it isn't yet.  That will not automatically log you out.  It will just make you log in again after you've logged out.

Yeah, sorry - I got the terminology confused.

So is it close to being worked on yet? Just curious if it's still way down the list or if I should start watching for it to appear in new builds?

Any news on a "session timeout" type of automatic logout?

My 2cent-bump  ;)

The Emby APP on LG (WebOS) is great - just really need this (automatic logout) to make it work for the family.

Please try and get it added in.
