Damn, I was hoping a fresh install would help.

Yeah, it's a large one like mine. Do you run beta builds of the server? I'm thinking of trying a fresh install of the server. It's actually started working well again. Doing my head in though.

Yes. Have been on Beta builds of the server for quite some time now.

Was thinking of a fresh install of Stable Release as well. Guess we are all thinking along the same lines.

But, having it take days or even a week to rebuild all libraries and in particular the chapter image extractions on such a large library is not a task I am anxious to start, if I don't have to.

Yeah, that's why I'm hesitant to do so. Mine's actually been working well again the last 2 days... I keep waiting for it to fall over though

Ok, so mine was working completely fine, then I had to restart to do a server update, and it went backing to the same issue. I'm almost positive it's related to the server restarting. After about a day or so the issue goes away, and will be working perfectly, then if I restart Emby server, it comes back right away,

@Luke I know you think this is an issue with out PCs, but could you please take another look? The fact that the issue is only happening after a server restart, makes me think it's a problem with Emby, not the PC.

Almost sounds like a caching issue.  Continued use your fine, restart everything starts slow again.

Could daedalus issue be with watching a Root folder?

Watching directory Q:\

LibraryMonitor: Q:\$RECYCLE.BIN\S-1-5-21-829508536-1588735727-2776457149-1001\$RIQQKYF

This may be a placebo effect, but after having the issues again last night after a restart, I ran a manual library scan this morning, and since then everything seems to be working again.

i use stablebit drivepool to combine my drives and doing so for years

this drive contains only media files

@swhitmore here i can't confirm any relation of this to the restart of the server neither the help of a manual library scan

Roots of drives often contain more than you know.  We have definitely had problems with that in the past.  I would create a sub-directory under there for the media and point to that.

this only shows up if i delete files (i delete to reycle bin first)

must have deleted something in this log

and my setup is the same as before this slow loading thing showed up

i found another thing i have 2 folders 'documentaries' & 'musicvideos' that aren't sorted in views like tv & movies these show up there items instantly when selected (ok these are just ~30 each thats maybe why its fast)

also jumping directly into the full list of series/movies is at normal speed (takes 1-2 seconds) only the finding/displaying of latest/nextup items is so slow

maybe this can help

Hey guys, just a follow up. I turned off automatic restarts a few days ago on the server too see if that was the cause of the issue. I haven't seen the delays since then. I'm now convinced that my issue is directly related to Emby Server restarting. When it does, the next-up, latest, etc. all become very very slow (sometimes 5 mins), for about a day or so.

@Luke could this still be an issue with my PC? I would greatly appreciate any help with this one. Let me know if you would like any more info. Thanks guys.

i also did some testing

"blocking" the restarts had no effect doesnt matter if it runs 5min or 5 days here its always slow

today i "dirty" downgraded to release version 3.0.5821.0, deleted the library.db and let it generate an new one (i know bad idea but dont gonna use this as a daily driver)

i opened up webclient and theater and tada all slow downs are gone everything shows up pretty fast

from my view it it must be something in the server itself or the new database format

it can't be anything with the hardware nor the mentioned "root drive thing"

log with v3.0.5821.0

Attached File  server-63594360638.txt   358.82KB   2 downloads

Strange how the database update was a major improvement, except for a select few.

Yeah, I've left mine for over a week without restarting the server, and haven't seen the issue once. It's definitely related to that. For now, I've just turned off automatic restarts and just do it when I need to.

Still sound like a caching issue if it is only happening with a server restart.

Thanks Happy, I think so too. How would I go about fixing this?

Mine can take that long to start working ok again, but I found that if I ran a few manual library scans it would start working in only a few hours (that could be a placebo effect though).
