experiencing a very slow loading of nextup & latest items by emby theater and the webclient as well

webclient seems to be a bit "faster" but at emby theater it can be minutes

this is a fresh installation and clients and server run on the same machine on a ssd

Server: 3.0.5894.0

Theater: 2.0.0

If you repeat the operation is it fast then?

Also, are you sure it is Next Up that is slow and not In Progress...?

According to your log, your problem isn't any particular emby method, it's every emby method. the response times in your log are completely out of the ordinary so i would look into anything on your machine that might be affecting performance. that's hardware diagnostics to check for failures, other software consuming resources, etc. Keeping in mind you only have a dual core system although it's more than enough for the activity in that log.

This looks like the same issue I have. It seems to come and go lately. For the last two days I didn't have the issue at all, but after installing new updates this morning, it's happening again. I'm not sure if the update itself caused it to come back, or just a server restart. I hadn't restarted the server in a few days (which is unusual), so that could be related.

Last week I thought I'd narrowed it down to a hardware issue, since I had a drive that was failing. But after replacing the drive, the issue was still there. I'm glad I'm not the only one though.

This is exactly what I see. It's intermediate. Mine has actually gotten a lot better the last few days.

Emby Server: Version 3.0.5898.0

Experiencing the same slow startup issues with Latest Items on Web Client homepage and all other Emby clients when the issue presents itself.

I have had the startup page in Web Client take up to 7-8 minutes to populate Latest Items and then allow me to navigate around my libraries in the worst case scenario. It is intermittent and once it populates I can be good for most of the day, but at some point it will become quite slow again. I too, thought I had a failing drive or hardware issue, but have investigated and don't detect any glaring hardware issues. Logs just show incredibly long times when trying to gather up latest items for startup page population.  An Emby Server restart or library scan can help at times, but I keep hoping that the next server update might see some improvement.

It's really weird. I just had about 3 solid days of no issues. My server was actually running the best it ever has since ever using Emby. Even the clients were loading things super fast, I couldn't believe it, I was in heaven.

...Then it all came crashing down yesterday and it was back to being super slow to load the next-up etc. I'll troll through the logs to see what the difference was, but something funky is definitely going on. I know Luke thinks it's an issue with the PC, but I'm not so sure.

Same here.

Couple of very quick and responsive days across all clients and then yesterday, back to really slow population of LATEST ITEMS (5 minutes or more) when starting up any client. Seems unlikely that we are all having hardware / PC issues with such similar performance experiences.

I think I do.

3,000 Movies (Mostly MKVs), 900 Recorded TV Files (WTV format), 30,000 TV Episodes (AVI, MP4 and MKVs). I even dropped Live TV Plugin and larger Music collection out of libraries, hoping it might help. But, it did not.

My library has been this large for the past few years without any issues in Media Browser or Emby. This issue with slow startup has only presented itself in the last month or so for me.

Yeah, it's a large one like mine. Do you run beta builds of the server? I'm thinking of trying a fresh install of the server. It's actually started working well again. Doing my head in though.
