Have a look at mailgun rather than gmail. they provide 10000 free email sends per month - however you do need your own domain name

Thanks that worked after a journey through Linux sendmail. Emails are sending now but all I get is stop notifications from fail2ban, no BAN emails from EMBY even though I get Ban entries from the EMBY filter in the fail2ban logs. I have the same issue described here:

Hi,

I think this is correct place to put this info, helpfull when emby is behind reverseproxy.

According to closed ticket: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1223

Logs can be send to remote syslog, using imfile feature in rsyslog.

https://www.rsyslog.com/doc/v8-stable/configuration/modules/imfile.html#state-files

Below is my configuration for rsyslog on emby server:

Path: /etc/rsyslog.d/00-emby.conf

$WorkDirectory /var/spool/rsyslog
$ModLoad imfile
$ModLoad imtcp
$InputFileName /var/lib/emby/logs/embyserver.txt
$InputFileTag emby:
$InputRunFileMonitor

# send only important for fail2ban logs.
if $msg contains 'Warn' or $msg contains 'Info' or $msg contains 'Error' then @@REMOTE_SYSLOG_IP
& stop
