jezzbennett 1
@ebr: I got very annoyed with the whole thing earlier so did a complete re-install earlier but when I did the 1st scan of the library in server it took ages (>30mins!) I attach the link to the log below. Boxsets load in MBC perfectly but movies don't. What I don't understand is that in the MBS web client I can see all the movies with all images and metadata but it just does pull through to MBC. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lz8ed8ejf6dnjrb/server-63523086788.log Hugely frustrating! Luke 37024
for the first time server scan 30 mins is completely normal.
ebr 14904
The log of your library scan is not unusual. I would need to see a server log from when you bring up MBC but I'm pretty sure I'll see the same thing. For whatever reason, it is taking the server much longer than expected to produce the list of items in that view and it is timing out. I am increasing the timeout period a bit in the next release of MBC but that isn't really going to make it more usable. We have to figure out why it is taking the server so long to produce a list of items in that collection. Are any of you guys using FlexRaid with pooling and allowing it to spread your folders across multiple drives?
vinoo 1
I think that my MBS make always the fisrt scan, that why it took a lot of time. It looks like this post too: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/3120-scan-media-library-failed-for-folders-that-are-offline-causes-no-media-to-show-on-client/ http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/3063-scan-media-library-now-takes-over-an-hour/ I have make a test, i have keep my Films library with movie type, i have change my struture of my nas share like this: Before: \\nas\Films\<all my movies> After: \\nas\films\A\<movies who start with A> Then i have make a scan, i could see my movies. I have added more films who start with B, ans rescan, i could see my movies, i have put more movies and i have reproduce the issue. In my opinion, the deep first scan of MBS, have a problem on a specific file and produce the issue. I will try to identify by dichotomy it but its long. vinoo 1
when i see the log of my nas the scan doesn't search only the name of the movies but scan/read avi files, movie.xml files, serie.xml files, folder.jpg files, image by name files...: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ek37jsxbehn8lor/2013-12-20%2019_44_22-Synology%20DiskStation%20-%20nas.png

ebr 14904
The server log is what will give me more information.
ebr 14904
It all depends on how long it takes the server to deliver the results. If it can do it in under 20 seconds, it will work. If not, it won't. Try changing your update level to dev in MBC and installing the latest release just to see if it helps at all.
vinoo 1
For begin Happy Christmas. I have continue my investigation but i understand anything, i have recreate my library and had progressively my movies, i could view my files but sometimes if i add too much movies in one time i reproduce the issue, if i remove a part of what i have add, make a MBS scan i could view my library, but not when the MBS scan pending, only when its finish and relaunch MBC. When i could view my file if i stay in MBC and add more files, a MBS scan start, i could browse my files, but not the new, if i relaunch MBC during the MBS scan i couldn't browse the files and MBC display (1|0). My MBS log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ea75b0hyhoxv4s/server-63523534117.log This is my log of today: add new files before 9 pm after the scan around 9:30 pm i could see the files last change at 9h11 pm https://www.dropbox.com/s/tlpx8zz4nico4ys/MBClassic-2512201327835763fc2844c1b122a245a15444ad.log last change at 9h25 pm https://www.dropbox.com/s/7mx3r4oj7yavhbd/MBClassic-2512201321626df1c4274f66905fa1e5bd0d7296.log After i have add some files and remake a scan and relaunch MBC, i could not browse my files around 9h45 https://www.dropbox.com/s/9kyzgp9mowwd4hc/MBClassic-2512201387526098474941a0be4bdb5fc291e6ff.log https://www.dropbox.com/s/focpjl8jk92dryf/MBClassic-25122013c64c3aa753b946b5aef1f2c4aa496abc.log https://www.dropbox.com/s/u2b868o4po4fo7i/MBClassic-2512201336843326dfb2431f81737cac4ad10273.log After ten minutes around 10h05 pm, and do nothing particular, i relaunch MBC for the fourth times, and its work (i understand anything ) https://www.dropbox.com/s/tlpx8zz4nico4ys/MBClassic-2512201327835763fc2844c1b122a245a15444ad.log Edited December 25, 2013 by vinoo
ebr 14904
105 increases the timeout to 35 seconds but it appears that isn't enough for you either. The bigger question is why does it take so long for your server to deliver these results. But, I'll look at making the timeout configurable. vinoo 1
I have update MBC to 3.0.105, and after a MBS rescan, i still have the issue. When i go to my collection with MBS HTML, it took 3 seconds for dispaly the 50 fisrt movies, and around 20 seconds for display the 500 fisrt movies. When i go to my collection with MBT, i took 30 second for display my movies. I use mediabrowser since 2.3.0 and perhaps before, i use mediabrowser 3 since June, and i won't have this problem before, just since 4-5 weeks. Is it possible to increase the 20 seconds timeout by configuration file, reg key or database? Edited December 26, 2013 by vinoo

vinoo 1
Im not at home but i will try it, or remake a fresh install off mbs, do u have some advices (reg key ro delete, path folders...) I make my metadata with metabroswer 2.511 (not sure of the version) and its store with the media, i have also a lot of person in image by name (around 30 000). We have to identify the botlle neck, i think we will find it, because i don't want to go back to mb 2.6, mb3 look so good and have good road map. ebr 14904
I wonder if deleting it and letting it re-create might help. Do you save metadata within your media folders?
ebr 14904
Just shut down the server, delete the library.db file and the providerinfo.db file in the data directory and then re-start the server and let it rebuild everything. With local metadata it shouldn't take too long but make sure the scan is finished before trying to test it again.
jezzbennett 1
Guys, Sorry for the radio silence. I have been away from my computer for the whole Festive period. A bit of an update - I have changed the wiring between my PC and Synology Diskstation. The map now looks something like this: PC > CAT6 cable > NETGEAR GS105 5 Port Gigabit Switch > CAT6 cable > Synology NAS. Attached are two images; the first shows the network speed according to the NAS and the second shows the network speed according to the gigabit ethernet card in the PC - both are suggesting they are running at 1Gbps. The LEDs on the new switch also suggest the cables to and from the PC and NAS are running at 1Gbps too. I have turned off the windows firewall. Even with all this I still have the same problem - my 811 movies do not show in MBC but all my TV shows do. I am therefore a little perplexed as to why this is still the case. You asked if I could attach a server log in an earlier post - could you let me know how I do this? On the NAS, I can view a General log, a Connection log, a File Transfer log or a Backp log. Which one do you need and how do I download it? DO you also need to see any up to date MBC/ MBS logs? BTW, I have my NAS setup as RAID 0. I notice that you have suggested that Vinoo deletes some metadata - should I do the same? Really looking forward to sorting this out and having MB3 running as smoothly as MB2
ebr 14904
I don't think this is an issue with network speed. Did you try re-building the library as I suggested? The server log I'm looking for is the MB Server log.
jezzbennett 1
Thanks ebr. Just got in from work. See below the two recent server logs. 1st one is a 6.8mb file created after i introduced the new hardware and I re-installed MBS. The 2nd file is only 114kb which has run today. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xderkfq94gh9y04/server-63524189601.log https://www.dropbox.com/s/mmr9dodvhtfcxns/server-63524217600.log I have not deleted the library.db file and the providerinfo.db file in the data directory - I will do this overnight tonight. If I was to uninstall MBS, would it delete the data folder anyway? The reason I ask is because I have re-installed MBS several time in the last 3 weeks! jezzbennett 1
One further question - could it be due to how the metadata is stored in the movie folders? I attach an image of a typical movie folder in my movie directory.
ebr 14904
No, the metadata location should not matter.
jezzbennett 1
thanks ebr. Did you get a chance to look at the log files? cheers,
ebr 14904
No (I'm remote on vacation), but I'm sure the issue is the same as the others. It is taking your server longer than 20 seconds to serve the request.
