Remove password max length on Emby Connect or at least match the forum

Emby connect appears to limit the max length of a password to less characters than the forum does despite using the same username/email address. Please remove the character limit on the Emby Connect login or at least increase it to be the same or greater than the forum.

I use a password manager (1password) to generate random passwords and use 50 character passwords everywhere unless it complains. I thought, it was the same account as my forum account so I was using that password but it kept failing and telling me that it was incorrect info (I could still login to the forum site just fine).

I tried signing up which is where the password field lists a 32 character limit. I couldn't sign up because it told me that my email address was already used.

I went back to connect login page, did the forgot password dance. Used the password it sent me (less than 32 characters) and logged in just fine. Same for forum. Once signed in, went back in and changed my password back to what it was before (50 characters).

Then I signed out, tried new 50 char password on connect login and it told me it was incorrect again. Tried it on the forum and it worked just fine.

Disclaimer: This was all last night and my little kid has me sleep deprived, so I believe those details to be as accurate as possible.

Sounds like the forum actually has a 32-character limit on the password but it doesn't enforce it when you use their change pw form.

What happens if you just enter the first 32 characters?

Yeah, that actually makes sense because the forum is dealing with a hash and not the password itself.

In any case, 32 characters appears to be the limit imposed by the board software so you should stick to a password within that.

Everything should be dealing with a hash and not the actual password itself. Otherwise it's doing it wrong. Very very wrong.

Which board software is imposing the limit? The forum works fine past 32 characters. Would you be willing to share what is being used for the Connect interface if that is what is imposing the limit?

This board (IPS).  As you noted, when you create your account, it tells you the password needs to be from 3 to 32 characters so it is imposing the limit.  It just doesn't appear to be doing it consistently.
