calzone 0
First of all, thanks for the new Chromecast app, it is really a big step forward. Chromecast now days has FLAC-support, see https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media. However, when I am playing my FLAC files on the Chromecast they get transcoded to Opus. Opus is good, buy it is still a lossy compression. Is it possible to allow the Chromecast to play the FLAC-file without transocding? Im running server version 3.0.5804.0. Luke 37060
It's already there. Not every chromecast device supports it. We are querying the device for support and FLAC is used when supported.
calzone 0
Well, I have the second gen Chromecast, I really thought that it would have the new FLAC-support, but maybe only Chromcast Audio has that. Anyone that can confirm this?
Luke 37060
To my knowledge it is only Chromecast Audio devices and that's what we've documented in our Chromecast wiki https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Chromecast
