Missing Library Items

Hey Guys,

Currently experiencing an issue whereby access to my library items have disappeared since rebuilding an EMC client.

The Emby Server remained intact, no changes made to network, IP addressing etc.

The WebUI dashboard menu is blank where my library once was. All the config is still present in the library config page (albeit missing folder images).

I rebuilt 'Documentaries' and 'Stand-Up' to see if that made a difference.

Currently, the only way to access media is via MBPlus plugin (which was manually installed), otherwise I get the 'No items' in EMC.

Everything is still there, I just have no way of accessing it directly via the menu's.

Looking into the client logs, I can see some:

(400) Bad Request

(500) Internal Server Error

Current Server version = 3.0.5801.0

Current EMC version = 3.0.292.0

Logs:

  • Server here
  • Client with no plugins here
  • Client with only MBPlus here

Apologies if posted in the wrong section, wasn't sure if Server or EMC issue.

The only other thing I can think of is that the mapped IBN folder was on the client host that was rebuilt.

check your library setup as well as any custom paths you may have configured. there's a network error being thrown when trying to access them, although the log doesn't say what path exactly.

The network name cannot be found.

Ok, so I was able to resolve this by restoring the network path back to the IBN folder on the other host. As soon as I did this, the library items appeared.

Now, the problem is - I can't find any reference to this network path in the server config -- i remember it used to be in the advanced tab of the Metadata section, but this no longer has a path. Where is the Server still referencing this?

Also, should something as simple as a few missing genre and actor images cause such a major issue such as losing entire library access?

It's the path under Metadata -> Advanced -> Metadata path.

The reason why this caused trouble for the server is that the path is used for quite a bit more now than just genres and actors.

Thanks @@Luke

However this is why I am confused, as that field is totally blank. Where else could this value be stored?

You have a legacy/old install that is mapping your IBN in the system.xml.  There are no longer options to change that via the UI anymore.  New installs change these values and more.

MediaBrowser-Server\config\system.xml

C:\Users\RiQ\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server

"ItemsByNamePath":"\\\\HTPC-7\\MediaBrowser\\ImagesByName"

"MergeMetadataAndImagesByName":false

Ah-ha! Perfect, thanks @@Happy2Play !

I knew it had to be reading it from somewhere. Makes sense now, cheers!
