Hello,

I'm French, so please excuse me if my English is not very good.

So, I'm introducing myself : I'm a new Emby user. During years I was using Plex, it worked greats on my Roku 3, but yesterday it decided to stop playing my HEVC mkv movies !!! I was upset, and this morning I decided to try Emby.
God, it's nice, it works great, my movies and my collections are working perfectly, and GPU acceleration is working... on my PC. Then I tried to put it on my Roku, and the nightmare began.

I have a Windows 10 PC. 32 Go memory, i7 4790K, GTX 970... My movies are on a Synology DS216 Play NAS.

I installed the "MediaBrowser" channel on my Roku 3, and launched it. Welcome... OK, scan the server, ... It can find and see my Emby server, and then "Enable to connect".

I read many things about that, and I discovered that I was using both Windows 10 Firewall and my Norton Internet Firewall. OK, I get rid with windows Firewall, and I checked that Emby service is in Norton Firewall parameters. It's good, but still anable to connect !!!

So for a test I stopped Norton Firewall, but it's still not working.

I'am becoming crazy, can someone help me... please, it would be very nice.

Have a nice day,

TheLorrain

First, have you tried from a web browser that is not the server? Another PC/Laptop that you have at home(or even your phone as long as it is on your wifi)?  That way you can start to decide if its the server or just the Roku.  If you cannot get on from a web browser then it will be something to do with the server firewall or network settings.

One thing to note, you should be installing the 'emby' channel.  Media Browser is old and there was also a 3rd party app that I don't think will connect anymore.

Thanks for your answers.

So I've tried to access with Emby Theater client on a desktop PC. It asked me a pin, and after everything works great.
I gonna in a few minutes try a Android client on my Sony Xperia Tablet.

Mjktg99, I'd like to use the Emby channel instead of the MediaBrowser. Unfortunately I can't find it on my Roku, and I can't use the Roku channels web interface : it replies me that this app is not available by the web in my country (France) !!!

May be I did not watch good, but I can't see the channel on my Roku. Where is it ?

Regards,

Try searching for it instead of browsing to the channel. You can also install the private beta version:

Luke, I tried also the beta... but as I said : unavailable in France. I see the web screen, with EmbyBeta, I click on "Add" but I have a red response : not in your country.

I have decided yesterday to stop smoking... but Emby / Roku have just ended my decision :-)

@@Luke is there any reason why you havent updated the images on roku store for the client? Quite clearly this causes confusion. The mediabrowser logo with the emby name.

Roku also added new locations, france, ireland, and mexico. Unless you allow in these new countries they are blocked.

Thanks Luke, I've downloaded the zip... but sorry to be a dumb : how do I transfer it on my Roku ?

Just another thing : from my Android phone I do not have access to Emby. It sees my server, I choose it, and then "Connexion error".

@Speechless

Thanks a LOT for your channel (EmbyBlueNeon). It works great, it's just amazing.
I'm very, very, happy... it's nicer and quicker than Plex.

I gonna try it for a fex days, and I think I will buy the Emby premium pass lifetime :-)

I wish you a nice day (and for all of us of course).

Thanks I added the the beta to france. I also added the public version but that has to go through roku approval first.

I can see the beta in France, unfortunately Roku does not allow me to choose it.

What do you mean? I wonder since I just made the change today if it just needs time.
