CBers 6766
Are only local trailers playable, or are YouTube trailers streamable from within the app? Does the app read the trailer tag for YT trailers in the movie.xml file and play them? If there is a local trailer and a YT trailer in the movie.xml file, are both available for playback? Basic questions and I think I know the answer, but just comparing app to the Android TV app. Thanks in advance
cmcg 874
Trailers from the trailers channel or local trailers are playable. Local trailers take precedence. The app reads the server api only. Item.trailers YouTube trailer urls are not supported as they point to an external page, not a stream source.
CBers 6766
So if there is a YT trailer in the movie.xml file, the app doesn't use it? I'm confused then. I have a movie, Sicario, that doesn't have a local trailer but has a YT trailer in the movie.xml file. When I open the movie in the app, there is a trailer and it plays. In the movie.xml file, there is this: <Trailers> <Trailer>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yn6Q-FnchY</Trailer> </Trailers> So, where is the trailer playing from please? cmcg 874
That xml file is irrelevant. This app asks the server questions via the server api and presents the results on screen. It never accesses any other source local or remote. If the server wants to read that file and offer some service based on its contents then great, but it's not the clients job to read it.
