cylon 15
Bambi is incorrectly displaying the production year for Bambi (1942) as 2013. I can't work out where it is pulling this from; here are the three links to the various sources of metadata: IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034492/ RT: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/9375 TMDB: http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/3170 All the other fields look correct in Metadata Manager. There is no way to stop MB Server from updating the "production year" field other than turning off "Enable internet metadata providers for this item." which I would prefer not to do. cylon 15
The external IDs in Metadata Manager are what I listed in my initial post - all are pointing to the correct movie. It is possible that it is pulling metadata from 171944 but I can't see how. WWWestern 94
Believe nothing to do with MBS. It due hankey-pankey by your 3rd-party metaprovider. Tags after </MediaInfo> are alien for MBS. 1. Disable working 3rd-party metaproviders. 2. Remove movie.xml and manually refresh the item in editor. 3. If wrong premiere date filled then enter TMDb 3170, save and refresh. cylon 15
I used to use MetaBrowser but always had the MediaInfo plugin disabled, I haven't used a third party tool since moving to MB3. I have deleted movie.xml, done a refresh and movie.xml is back with the MediaInfo tags. Deleting the production year, saving and refreshing brings back the wrong year - 2013. Is there a way to flush the movie from the database and do a real refresh or is that what the "Full Metadata Refresh" button does?
cylon 15
well in any event, if it happens to be AU, it's due to data coming from tmdb: {"iso_3166_1":"AU","certification":"G","release_date":"2013-06-04"} Nice find Luke, that is the cause. I think MBS is trying to be too clever as far as Country specific metadata is concerned. I would prefer it to use the "Year" tag as that is when it was really released vs when it was screened in my country which can be years difference in some cases. Some movies never get released. It is really helpful to have the correct parental/content rating listed but I don't care about anything else. MBS is pulling the Parental/Content Rating tag from TMDB which doesn't have a rating for most Australian movies. IMDB does have these ratings, I have logged a feature request here: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/2862-australian-patentalcontent-rating-not-listed-for-most-movies-on-tmdb/ Edited December 9, 2013 by cylon
cylon 15
I have done some more digging as I didn't think that all my other movies would have a "release_date" tag for Australia on TMDB. It looks like most of them don't, I assume MBS defaults to the "year" field if there is no "release_date" for the country it is configured for. Primer (2004) is a perfect example of a movie that was never released in Australia, yes it is available on iTunes but that doesn't count in my opinion. So the TMDB "release_date" will probably never get populated for Australia. Edited December 9, 2013 by cylon
ebr 14903
We default to the US release date if no country-specific one is found.
cylon 15
Ok, is it worth me logging a Feature Request for an option to force MBS to always use US release date?
ebr 14903
You can always log it. It seems like a very narrow option that would complicate the setup so I personally would have it very low priority unless a whole bunch of people requested it. jwill 28
Well, I'll certainly request it, since it is obviously the right thing to do. It is absurd to have MBS giving the year for Bambi as 2013. Even better would be to have MBS look at all the countries and choose the earliest one. ebr 14903
Just to be clear, your initial request was for an option. That is what I think would be low priority. If you can gain consensus that handling the production year in a different manner than we do now is a good idea by default, then that is a different matter. I had the same issue with star wars iv the release date for au was listed as 1997 which would have been when the special edition was released
