Hi there .... so I have basic video playback working now - so here is the link to download a test package for Netcast TVs (sorry I haven't tested the package yet and I am working on a package for webOS - need to run up a windows 7 PC first)

 

Be aware this is a very early preview and not fully featured ... any feedback please focus on what is implemented not what isn't working ...

 

Also the test application requires an internet connection, but once installed you won't need to update again ...

Just put a webOS version up as well - I hope it work ... packaged manually cause I can't install the webOS SDK for some reason .... sorry I can't test it as I don't have webOS TV

 

fyi - it isn't full optimized for webOS resolution yet

 

UPDATE - SORRY had to remove the webOS version it isn't packaged correctly - need to get the SDK working in order to generate an IPK package

Hi simon, had a quick look earlier. I presume I have done this correctly - downloaded your netcast.zip file. Extracted the numbered folder in there to a USB drive and inserted into TV. Accessed My Apps on TV and found your app via the USB icon.

 

App asks for IP address of server, says server is found and then opens with PLAYz emby splash screen and after a second or two I get a blank screen apart from the PLAYz logo in top right. Nothing else appears. Section of log below mentioning my TV IP address.

Hey can make you envy server externally available? Pm me details so I can check ... It looks like an issue getting a list of users for you server .... I.e enter server ip then select user and login ...

fyi if you press the RED function button on your remote or click the icon top left with magic remote - the app will reset with all saved setting wiped.

I've got a problem loading the app to the TV. How do you place it in the USB folder?

Downloading App on USB (NETCAST)

 

1. Create lgapps\installed folder in USB.

 

2. Go to [App Test] menu and select the application to deploy on a TV. Download the DRM-packaged file (.zip) on your PC. Then, unzip it.

 

3. You will see a folder named with a number, for example "8". This number is an application ID. Copy this folder under "lgapps\installed" folder in USB.

For those on WebOS: When I first installed the app, and I was presented with the select server screen, I could not highlight any letters to the left or bring up on on screen keyboard (it seemed to have frozen).

 

Pushing the red button on my remote (I don't have the Magic remote) so it resets the app (as Simon suggested above) did the trick.

 

EDIT: So far so good Simon! I have:

 

Added my server

Browsed through some movies

Playing 1080p now, and it's pretty good.

 

If this is version 0.0.0.1, I can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve! :)

just an fyi I am at MS Ignite (Gold Coast) this week so might not get much development done ... working on video controls, updated play position and stream quality settings ...

ok, this is for emby, i was thinking that was your new verzion of playz for plex.

 

Pitty that emby doesnt support Synoligy.

 

But keep up the good work, and i will try it wend synoligy start to be supported.

Just put your envy server IP address in ... No need for the http:// or port number

Use the on screen keyboard on the left ... Arrow keys to navigate and OK to select letter ...

If you don't have any luck with the up/down/left/right buttons on your standard remote, have you tried what I suggested a couple of posts back and pressed the red button to reset the app? This jolted it for me and I was able to highlight and select from letters on the left. Although, sounds like you have the TVs own onscreen keyboard working and appearing, so probably not the same problem I had. Worth a shot though. :-)

The on screen keyboard on the left has 3 tabs. Only the first tab is working for me, I couldn't get the other 2 tabs to work.

Let me try to press the red button again and see how it goes. Didn't have a problem with selecting letters from the on screen keyboard, just couldn't select the symbol's tab to key in my IP Address

However, when it's connected i could only see my collections but couldn't play them.

This is an early release preview not full featured ... It will only play single video files at present ... Select a video in your collection to play it
