GoFlex Network Shared Drives and Media Server

I've installed Server and am going through the initial installation.  All my Media is on a GoFlex Home network Shared drive.  The login for the drive is the same I used for my profile.  When I try to put my media path of \\GOFLEX_HOME\GoFlex Home Public\Movies I get an incorrect login/password message.  When I use the mapped drive Seagate Dashboard creates I get missing part of path error.  This Seagate drive won't allow me to modify the permissions in Windows, but all I can do through the drive configuration tool/dashboard is create an account.

Sorry, the question is, since my network drive requires a login and password to access the media, is there a way to include it as part of the path name when entering the media path?  The setup sees my network drive as a network server, but it doesn't connect to it.  When I browse out to the network drive in Windows, I can browse to it no problem.

Any suggestions?  I'm not far enough into the setup to be generating a log file.  The install recognized my login I use for my server, and I use the same login/password for my profile as I do for the network drive.

When I installed Media Browser 2.x for the first time and put in the path for the network drive I got prompted with the windows network login prompt for the drive.  I'm not getting that here.  Based on the specificity of the error, I thought there maybe a way to structure the path to include the login information with it.

Right now we don't have that capability.  It's best to ensure that the same path you are feeding the server is also accessible to the current windows user. We may look at user credentials at some point but there's no guarantee that we'll implement it or not because we'd also have to be able to pass that information to processes we launch like ffmpeg. So that's why it's best to handle it within the OS.

That's where I'm stumped.  The path is accessible to the Windows account that I'm logged in as.  I can browse to it in Windows without any problems, but Mediabrowser doesn't seem to be able to make the connection.  I had a drive I hadn't started using yet, that I could directly connect to the server instead of having it sit on the Network as a stand-alone, so I'm copying the files over and using it instead.  It just means I may have to duplicate files in two different places until I can either find a way to make the login work on the Network drive or the DLNA plugin is done.

Are you running the Media Browser Server as a service?  If so you will need to change the account the service is running under.

Hey, I have two goflexes in my network and use both for housing media.  instead of using \\goflex....  (since I have two and both have the same stupid name...)  I use the actual IP address \\xxx.xxx.xxx.43  and \\xxx.xxx.xxx.44

To get windows to see the files, I simply opened each in normal windows explorer one time, make sure you entered the access data correctly and click the check mark to save the login information.  Haven't had an issue since.  my MediaBrowser3 server is on a Win7.  but I can also access from the Win8.1 pcs the same way.

The service is still fairly new so the documentation might not be complete. Feel free to help update it so that it may help others. The answer is that you may, or may not need to configure a user account for the service to run under using the windows services control panel. It just depends on your environment.
