blublub 10 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hi I use a SSD for my system disc where Emby runs on. This gives me quick access for Emby to all metadata without my RAID spinning up when I just browse or edit some metadata (can be quite laggy until pics appear) This has the drawback that if my system disc fails the metadata is lost. Since Emby can store metadata in its own cache and in the media folders it would be nice to use the media folders as a redundancy storage for metadata - in case the main disc where Emby runs on crashes or has to be re-installed. In such a case the library could be rebuild from scratch in just a blink of an eye from the metadata in the media folders. I think it would be a nice addition if emby could export/update metadata to the media folders either manually or via a scheduled event. For that to work a setting would be needed where the user can specify if and for what the mediafolders can be used and maybe an option to rebuild the library from metadata in the media folders.
