Music Support for FireTV

Good Afternoon Folks,

I currently have 2 FireTV boxes which have replaced PC's in the lounge and one in my guest room which doubles as a gym for myself saves me load of electricity! Emby on the FireTV is amazing for when I have friends staying over as they are always watching TV and Movies and comment on how good it is, as they say "I have my own personal Netflix"

One thing I do miss is Music support when I'm training, currently I have Kodi installed with the Emby plugin which is a decent workaround but I'd love to see music support for the FireTV purely from Emby, I have a mild case of OCD so having to use another app slash workaround makes the eye twitch lol :D

I don't like it when people bang on about ETA's but to calm my OCD knowing "it's on the cards" is good enough for me :)

Keep up the good work everyone,

Edd.

It is in the cards but hasn't been requested much and, since there are other good music options already on the device, it isn't at the top of the list right now.  We will get there eventually though.

That's what I use anyways. It sees emby as a library you can browse over dlna, so basically if you want to direct stream something without ever transcoding...

Btw.. This should already be on your android device (if it isn't omg, you need it). it is one of those must-have applications, like bsplayer. ;)

Unfortunately, Amazon has an awful library of most applications, including music support. You may not be able to find "the best" applications there. Downloading applications from Google play with another device, then backup with titanium or other, and side-load onto the firetv. In-app payments may (will?) be an issue when doing this. Bubbleupnp may be difficult to get the "premium paid" unlocker application to work because it depends on Google play services and not amazons services. Why did you choose firetv without first investigating its "closed/walled" ecosystem? :)

Here's another request.  It's great having my music library available through Emby and it would be convenient to have it stream through your Fire TV app.

Yeah, it is bubbling up the list :).  I have one other area (Live TV recording management) I think needs improvement before this major feature is tackled.

We really do appreciate emby's team hard work, but i think its about time to enable the music feature in emby for Android TV, please give more interest on it.

It is the next major feature to go in but it is a major feature as opposed to just enabling something so don't expect it in a week :).

Thanks for the great work and the great app! I am using it on a 2015 model Sony XBR TV and it works well. Live TV performance is much better transcoded than direct, and my Blu-Ray movie collection plays perfectly! I can't wait to see music included too! Just let me know if you need any assistance with testing.

Watch the beta area.  There will be an open beta when it is ready to start testing.

Thanks ebr! I found the open beta thread and became a beta tester.

Okay, we're getting closer to a beta release for music and I'm going to need testers.  If you are on a Google device, the beta will be open just see: Android Open Beta Testing.

If you are on an Amazon device, and aren't already in the beta group. PM me the email associated with the Amazon account and be sure that you have the settings in your account to allow Marketing communications and Invites.
