juankroi 0
Hello, I'd like to install Emby server to the DS215J but I can't find all the packages needed. The CPU arch. is "Armada375" as stated in the link provided. About Emby, I can find this: emby_armada375-5.1_3.0.5597.1-3.spk About "ffmpeg", I can't find one for Armada375 here: cytec.us/syno/test-spk/ffmpeg, but only for Armada370. Did someone made Emby working on DS215J ?? I hope someone can hel, thanks a lot in advance. Did anyone finally succed with installation of emby server at Synology DS215j NAS?? I've bought one of this and would like to use emby there. Thanks
Darkjeje 11
Hello to all,Do you have any news concerning a stable version of Emby for Synology whitout Mono/Mediainfo/ImageMagic ? Is it planned that Emby for Synology Takes care the material transcoding of the DS214play, DS415play and DS216play to reduce the request to CPU during the transcoding ? darkside2006 0
I have a DS413 with a FREESCALE QorIQ P1022 CPU and 1024MB of total Physical memory. When I followed the instructions under “Pre-Installation” and “Installation” in the original post I could not install “Mono” from the Package Centre as it did not appear there. The other packages “Mediainfo” and “ImageMagick” were listed and available for installation. A bit of research seemed to indicate to me that “mono” was not compatible with the Freescale Architecture. Does anyone know if Mono can be installed on my machine? Also, there did not seem to be any Installation instructions for the Freescale CPU – does this mean even after the Package moves from Beta, I will not be able to install on my machine? Many Thanks I have the same question. i tried the windows version and emby is really cool, but for now it seems there is no way to get it on the DS413. Is there any news to install this without mono? KRULL 8
I tried updating 8 times last week, using the exact same method that last worked for me, and it never took. I ended up giving up, and deleted Pushbullet plug in to stop the annoying update messages.
hexagram 5
Mono package from synocommunity causes a segfault. Mono from Xamarin can be installed. Need to modify start-stop-status script of Emby to point to the official synology package.

I've tried to do it on my Synology but could never work out how to do it! Cheers!
yukes33 0
Hello everyone, I managed to make Emby work on my DS214 with DSM 6.0-7321. Everything is working fine except Mono that is taking almost all the RAM left (200MB) but that's OK. Has anyone tried to update to DSM 6.0-7321 Update 2 ? And if anyone knows how to reduce the RAM consumption (an alternative to the official Mono package maybe), I'm listening. I tried the Xamarin version but the Emby package didn't start at all so got back to the official one. Cheers
sonofdad 2
Didn't work for me with update 2 on a DS414 and still doesn't after just applying update 3. Would really be something special for Emby Co to comment on this. I'd be kicking myself if I were someone who had given money to Emby and now couldn't use the service. Emby definitely works on DS414, but you have to make some manual adjustments, read here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/32554-dsm-6-ds414-armadaxp/
sonofdad 2
What exactly doesn't work? Can you provide a little more information? thanks. What doesn't work..... Exactly the same thing I reported on March 6th when DSM6 was still in pre-release. Seriously why is Emby Co still treating this like a complete mystery? Posted 06 March 2016 - 10:09 AM It's a DS414 Emby version package is listed as 3.0.5724.5-5 selecting run displays 'loading' for about 8-9 seconds then times out with no error message
sonofdad 2
Emby definitely works on DS414, but you have to make some manual adjustments, read here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/32554-dsm-6-ds414-armadaxp/ That post reads as three pages of someone saying "I did this and it works" followed by someone saying "I tried the same and it didn't but then I did something else and now it works". Frak it I can just use the in built media server to watch what I want if it's impossible to make an install package that actually works.

Seriously why is Emby Co still treating this like a complete mystery? You're coming across as entitled, and as you have pointed out, you haven't paid for this. Your post yesterday was not helpful, as it had next to no detail, and you didn't bother to reference your earlier post. I.E, you're not helping yourself in anyway by providing relevant info. So please drop the attitude, it will not endear people to help you solve your issue.
sonofdad 2
So please drop the attitude, it will not endear people to help you solve your issue. No I'll just drop Emby as likely many others have due to it not actually running.

scyto 0
I am utterly confused by this thread. Are the instructions in the OP upto date and do they work in DSM6? For example it mentions installing ffmpeg manually - but i notice this is now in the community repo. I see some say it does work and some say it doesnt' and some say to install in docker. Is there official update guidance / community package i can install that does it all? Edited April 25, 2016 by scyto
verbumfeit 2
I got emby up and running on a friends DiskStation (DS415+) just a couple of days ago and here is what I did (read this post completely before trying anything): Follow the instructions in Post #1 (I installed ImageMagick beta from the Community): Pre-installation Package center-->Settings-->General choose-Trust Level any publisher Package center-->Settings-->Beta choose-Yes, I want to see beta version! Add http://packages.synocommunity.com/ and http://cytec.us/spk/ to Package center -->Package Source Check the what CPU/architecture you have in your synology https://github.com/S...r-Synology-mode so you can use the right Package for your base install.(#Shell command uname -a) Installation Install Mono from Package center --> Community Tab Install Mediainfo from Package center --> Community Tab Install ImageMagick using the build attached to this post Download and Install ffmpeg from here: http://cytec.us/syno/test-spk/ffmpeg/ Download and Install emby from here: http://cytec.us/syno/test-spk/emby/ Updating 1. Download Emby.Mono.zip from here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases/latest 2. Extract the zip file into a folder 2. Download and install winSCP http://winscp.net/eng/download.php login as root to synology 3. Make sure the Emby service is stopped 4. Copy the contents of the zip file into /volume1/@appstore/emby/share/emby (or wherever it has been installed, the contents of the zip should look like the contents of the folder you are copying into) 5. Start Emby Important things are: Set up the server before updating to the newest version (Create a user, etc. Click Next until you are at the dashboard where emby tells you a newer version is available). Don't add library folders now. The update will perform a database upgrade which takes some time. Save that time by adding folders after the update. Make sure you stopped emby via the DSM Package Manager before updating. After updating: make sure the file owner/group of the updated files is set correctly. Otherwise emby won't start. (In my case it had to be emby:root. Check this before you overwrite the files) Optional: Edit the INFO file in /var/packages/emby/ (e.g. with nano) and change the version and changelog values to the correct version. This will be displayed in the DSM Package Manager. I'm using the mono beta from SynoCommunity (not Mono from Xamarin) and it works flawlessly. I tried it with Mono beta from Xamarin and it works just as well. Running on a DS415+ ----------------------------------------------- I was sooo confused reading this thread and jumping back and forth between the forum and github. It seems some DiskStations still have the mono segfault error and therefore have to use Mono from Xamarin. It would be nice if it could be determined which ones are affected and update the first post of this thread accordingly.
