Version 3.1.26a

Please refer to this post if you are still on 3.0.34.

Fixes:

  • ...many of them. Keep reporting issues, thank you!

Tip: With Emby for Kodi 3.1.x, you should now have access to kodi.emby.media which contains some previous and always the latest build. This gives you an easy way to revert back to the previous version in case there's a bug, that is after reporting your issue (please).

From add-ons > install from zip.

beta
Version 3.1.30a

Please refer to this post if you are still on 3.0.34. Getting closer to the finish line...?

Changes:

  • Audiobook type has been set to video type, this will fix the resume point and playing the wrong title issue
  • Add audiobooks submenus
  • Force transcode option to transcode all files under add-on settings > playback
  • Updating libraries will now remove content that no longer belongs. Please test
  • New content notification (is disabled by default). You can find this option in the add-on settings > interface

beta

Version 3.1.43a

With the next version (3.1.44a) the database will have to be rebuilt (or repaired) if you are using add-on playback. Switching plugin paths to dynamic strm links will fix a lot of playback issues and remove the need for workarounds, which is always a good thing.

If your library is not reflected correctly in Kodi, make a post. We are getting closer to stable. Thanks for helping out by testing my crazy ideas.

Changes:

  • Prep code for move to strm links

Fixes:

  • Restart Emby for Kodi

Announcement re: server 4.0

Hi everyone. I am aware the server 4.0 breaks the stable version of Emby for Kodi. Only the beta version of the add-on supports 4.0 at the moment and it's not ready to be stable, not for another week anyway.

I'm sorry for not making an announcement sooner, especially knowing this was going to happen. I should have, and will do better in the future.

You have two options at this time.

  1. Remain on 3.5 for a little bit longer.
  2. If you've already updated to server 4.0, then you'll have to update to the beta version of Emby for Kodi, until the stable version is released. The beta version can be found here: http://kodi.emby.media ---Install the beta repository and the beta version over your current version. Then do a local database reset to apply the new changes that comes with being on server 4.0.

beta

Version 3.1.44a

As we are approaching a stable build, please report if you have any remaining issues with this version + being on server 4.0.

Changes:

  • Move to strm links for your video library. This is only for users on Kodi Leia. Repair your movie, series, music video libraries.
  • All library modifications options have been moved to the Manage libraries entry to clean up the initial listing a bit.

  • Mixed content should no longer generate duplicates when updating.
  • Playlist sent from Emby not loading correctly
  • For Kodi Leia users, Playback not starting correctly in certain scenarios. This is directly related to moving to strm links
  • Convert datetimes to local time, you'll need to repair/reset your local database to apply this fix

final beta

Version 3.1.46a

Thanks to everyone who's helped test this massive beta update. If I could get some people to test this version with a fresh Kodi install, or local database reset to ensure everything works, it would be greatly appreciated. This is the last beta before we move to stable, hopefully within 48 hours.

I know there are a few more things to resolve, but we really need to release stable. Don't worry, beta will still keep going and we'll address outstanding issues then.

Changes:

  • Add option to disable Emby for Kodi internally. In the add-on settings > advanced > Enable Emby for Kodi.

Fixes:

  • Service restart
  • Database discovery has been reworked
  • Special seasons and other sync fix. You'll need to update or repair your libraries.

stable/beta

Version 4.0.0

Thanks again to everyone who's helped test beta. We will pick things back up in a bit.

More info on this release:

I've been working on this update since September during my free time. I reworked the add-on syncing process from scratch. Added some features, fixed bugs. Overall, the add-on should perform faster than before and give you more control over the syncing process.

A special thanks to @@sualfred for helping out with the playback aspect of the add-on.

The wiki has been updated [more to come]: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/wiki

If you enjoy this update, please consider making a donation here.

If you were not using the beta version previously, please do a local database reset to ensure all changes are applied correctly. I hope the wait was worth it.

Changes:

  • New hybrid mode: You can now select which library you want to sync to Kodi. Libraries that are not synced will still be accessible via dynamic plugin listing. Launch the addon and open the context menu on libraries for additional options.
  • Faster sync times
  • The syncing process now creates a restore point. In the event the sync gives an error, you'll be able to restore your progress. Obviously if the problem persists, you should post your issue here.
  • Support playlists, recordings and live TV via dynamic plugin listing
  • Update/repair/remove per library basis (launch the add-on, open the context menu on the library of your choice).
  • Optional start up sync. If you have Kodi companion installed, your updates will be applied when Kodi is started. If you don't, then you can manually update libraries when you want, to grab the latest updates.
  • Supports Leia
  • Multi server support: Additional servers will be accessible via dynamic plugin listing. Check the add server option when launching the add-on. There's a small bug that happens during playback. It will be corrected with the next stable version.
  • You can now update your server information in the add-on settings.
  • Support play next action from Emby
  • Settings have been simplified
  • Audio and subs will now be automatically set following your server user settings if you are using add-on playback.
  • Dynamic patching system to maintain multiple Kodi versions at once.
  • Homevideos & photos type libraries are located under pictures add-ons. This is to prevent errors for picture content.
  • Add option to hide/display sensitive information in logs
  • Add live TV support (channels for now) -- Note this is just a dynamic entry, it's not a pvr replacement.
  • Add useful menu options for dynamic entries type home videos, movies (more to be added)
  • Add notification for large updates at startup (you can adjust the notification trigger in the addon settings > sync options) *Default is 999*
  • When syncing your movie libraries, it will automatically trigger a boxset refresh for you.
  • Force transcode option to transcode all files under add-on settings > playback
  • New content notification (is disabled by default). You can find this option in the add-on settings > interface
  • Progress bar for updates (will appear if there's more than 15 updates by default). You can find this option in the add-on settings > interface. If you don't want the progress bar, just set some ridiculously high number.
  • Support up next
  • Dependencies have been updated to v0.13
  • The Rotten Tomatoes setting is plugged in. If you do not want this rating synced, you can disable it in the add-on settings > sync options. Update your movie libraries to apply the change by launching the add-on > update libraries.
  • Restart Emby for Kodi (this will rerun start up events, etc.), Launch Emby for Kodi > restart emby for kodi or you can also use RunPlugin("plugin://plugin.video.emby?mode=restartservice")
  • Move to strm links for your video library. This is only for users on Kodi Leia.
  • All library modifications options have been moved to the Manage libraries entry to clean up the initial listing a bit.
  • Add option to disable Emby for Kodi internally. In the add-on settings > advanced > Enable Emby for Kodi.
  • Cache all artwork has been removed temporarily.
  • Audiobook support has been removed temporarily, until the server has better support.

Fixes:

  • Artwork caching causing Kodi to crash during the initial sync
  • Empty show detection
  • Series pooling
  • Boxset refresh
  • Recently played for music
  • Path validation for native playback mode
  • Context menu should load faster
  • Nodes -- They were one level too deep preventing skins from browsing beyond a certain level.

  • Slowness for add-on playback and other dynamic actions
  • Transcode flac audio
  • Playback via context menu
  • Reporting progress
  • Convert datetime to local time
  • Music - songs that are not sorted by artist/album/song in Emby should now sync.

Version 4.0.3

Make sure you update to this version to avoid errors. The wiki has been updated. A few things remain to be done, but I hope you'll have a look. Changes should slow down now. Getting close to starting beta again.

Changes:

  • Home videos and pictures will now show under videos, but know that pictures will not display correctly this way. It still remains under picture add-ons.
  • Dependencies have been updated to 0.14. If you have difficulty installing them, you can find them here I can't control the max version of the dependencies add-ons. Kodi updated to 0.14 silently and so, you need to update to 4.0.3 for the main add-on to resolve playback issues. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Playback for Leia

beta

Version 4.0.6a

Changes:

  • Kodi Leia playback adapted for the new strm link (add-on playback). Please test it.
  • Related to the new playback for Leia, a new setting in the playback tab > Loading splash video. This is the video you see paused prior to playback starting.

More about the playback change:

You'll notice an emby loading video. This is normal, it sets up playback. This new method brings us a few benefits worth noting. It is a bit faster and is more stable than the previous plugin approach, If you are direct playing using add-on playback, chapter images will now display and subtitles add-ons will now be able to see your real path during playback. Please test and give feedback.

What you should expect:

emby-loading.mp4 video paused --> (dialogs like resume, etc) --> playback starts as usual.

This change can be backported to Krypton and will be if everything goes well with Leia testing.

2/14

Edit: There was a small resume issue. Just restart Emby for Kodi and it should work again.

beta

Version 4.0.7a

Small follow up for 4.0.6a.

Changes:

  • Context menu now offers Emby play. This is compatible with native playback, it will simply launch playback as if it were add-on playback. This way it will load cinema mode, additional parts, etc.

Fixes:

  • New playback method. Please try it and report back if there's any playback issues still.
  • Multi-part playback with new method
  • Multi-version episodes. Repair your library once to remove the bad entries. Future additions will be added correctly.

2/21

There was a small bug with updating tv shows. Restart Emby for Kodi, it should work again. You may need to update your libraries to pick up on the changes that happened between then and now.

Version 4.0.9a

Small follow up for 4.0.6-7a. Please update to this version to avoid errors. If you can't see the update, follow this https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/wiki/FAQ#i-cant-see-the-latest-update-for-emby-for-kodi

Changes:

  • Music database rescan patch, under Emby for Kodi > manage libraries. This is to silence the "Would you like to rescan your music" prompt you may get navigating your music.
  • Permanent users, the option has been turned into a mini script that is easier to set. Try it out, under the add-on settings > Interface.
  • Re-added cache all artwork (open Emby for Kodi) to force cache all your artwork at once and clean up your thumbnails. Please use responsibly
  • Disabled force cache artwork for large syncs for low powered devices (less than 3GB memory) to stop Kodi from crashing.
  • New add-on settings under playback, Delay playback. This is mostly to adjust if playback should start slower, in the event you have auto framerate switching enabled. It should be left to it's default value otherwise.

Fixes:

  • Resuming with CoreElec
  • Context menu transcode

beta

Version 4.0.11a

Version to fix bugs introduced with 4.0.9.

Reminder: This is beta, if you don't want to help out with testing, which is perfectly fine :), switch to the stable version to avoid being frustrated if stuff stop working. I use beta to test new ideas, sometimes it may break in between versions, even if I try to avoid it as much as possible. Thanks for your understanding.

Fixes:

  • The patching system should now respect your current setup version and not get ahead with a version that is not compatible with the add-on.
  • Cache all artwork should now trigger correctly. Careful on low powered devices. If your Kodi crashes, please let me know.
  • Shield being detected as low powered when it shouldn't be

Version 4.0.12a

Fixes:

  • Live tv stream not terminating correctly
  • Resume dialog is ignored in auto play scenarios
  • CoreElec playback, please ensure you are on the CE stable 9.0.1. Playback seems to be ever changing at the moment. This will need adjustments as we move forward.
  • Discart missing

beta

Version 4.0.13a

Changes:

  • New "simple play" settings for add-on playback, under add-on settings > playback. The setting allows playback to resolves with a single video, ignoring cinema mode and additional parts to make it compatible with external player playback.

Fixes:

  • The emby-loading video was removed, playback has been reworked again to achieve stability and speed. Add-on playback speed is now almost as quick as native playback. Chapter images, and other improvements remain with this newer approach.
  • Other playback anomalies should be resolved now.
  • Series pooling should be applied correctly... edit: small issue found. Please test with the next beta version.
  • Artwork caching memory usage should remain under control to prevent low powered devices from crashing.
