does this happen on a fresh emby install, or just upgrades?

Personally for me, I have been playing with two different systems trying everything in order to reproduce the error, but have yet to be successful.

Here is my situation (Ubuntu 14.04 heardless server, emby server on Ubuntu 14.04 server virtualbox).

- Upgrade from mediabrowser to emby:

sudo apt-get ppa-purge

sudo ppa-purge ppa:apps-z/mediabrowser (quit without follow it suggestion)

sudo apt-get update (no error)

sudo purge mediabrowser

sudo apt-get autoremove

(/var/lib/mediabrowser folder intact, but /option/mediabrowser gone)

wget -qO - http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:emby/xUbuntu_14.04/Release.key | sudo apt-key add -

sudo sh -c "echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/emby/xUbuntu_14.04/ /' >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/emby-server.list"

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install mono-runtime mediainfo libsqlite3-dev imagemagick-6.q8 libmagickwand-6.q8-2 libmagickcore-6.q8-2

sudo apt-get install emby-server

Now, funny part is that I can log into server with both:

http://serverip:8096/mediabrowser (showing old logo)

or http://serverip:8096/emby (showing new logo)

Howerver, if I log into the server with http://serverip:8096/emby, I cannot make any change at all, it shows all kind of errors as we see in the forum (add user, change DLNA user, etc ...);

but, if I log into the server with http://serverip:8096/mediabrowser, then everything work accordingly as it should.

Hope this help!

Minh

I can confirm the same as mdtrinh, but mine is a clean install no previous installation of mediabrowser as I had completed a clean server install, the Auto Box Set and user creation does not throw the Guid Error, however, it appears that the auto box set does not actually create any Box Sets. Attached new server log file using server_ip:8096/mediabrowser

server log mediabrowser.txt

Wow,

Finally error reproduced. Thanks for the added info. My comment to both you guys is why are you even using "/emby" or "/mediabrowser" if you don't use either the web interface will work. So for now there is a work around. Can everyone else confirm that you no longer get the error if the url is changed accordingly. If so please mark this as answered.

I can confirm when I just go to the Web interface on http://ServerIP:8096 that I can use save settings in plugins, can create or edit users and everything else seems to work.

Previously I had been using /emby as I figured this would be the correct address with all the name changes since it use to be /mediabrowser.

That is an interesting one....

Wow, didn't even try that before. I can confirm that I no longer have the GUID when I go to http://serverip:8096/mediabrowser which I didn't think would work since I only installed Emby which is accessible via http://serverip:8096/emby. Any changes made in http://serverip:8096/emby result in the GUID issue as well as my Scheduled Tasks issue (see other forum post). When I make the same changes in http://serverip:8096/mediabrowser, (or just http://serverip:8096/) not only do I not get the GUID issue, I can also add/make changes to Scheduled tasks.

Please let me know if you still need logs. This is from a fresh install. I had mediabrowser before but I completely deleted everything in /var/lib/ and /opt/ and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and /etc/init.d/ and /etc/default/ related to mediabrowser+emby and the old PPA from a few weeks ago.

Well whilst the error has gone away after a clean install and following the recommendations in here, the auto box set still fails to create anything with the new version.

I am guessing we will be able to use http://ServerIP/emby eventually? Since it is in the installation instructions to do that.

Are they,  Luke must have put those in. I don't think its necessary since the server ip and port work just as well. I will ask Luke to adjust the install instructions.

I am getting the same error while trying to edit user prefs. I had this before and after any plugins.

Debian 7, kernel 3.16.0-0.bpo.4-amd64

I have not made any changes to any sqlite files. I am only altering things via the web interface.

Going to the adress http://serverip:8096 or http://serverip:8096/mediabrowser, does not fix this for me - I now have a different error:

Argument cannot be null. Parameter name: ConnectServerId

This is a fresh install from the suse repos.

Edit: Using http://serverip:8096 does however solve the error on the backup plugin.

More information on this. I have discovered that it is because I am trying to add a username/email for Emby connect. I added other users, deleted the original user, readded and I can change all the options when using http://serverip:8096, so this is a step in the right direction.

However, I am unable to enter anything into the username/email field because:

Argument cannot be null. Parameter name: ConnectServerId

Can others confirm if they are able to enter an email/username in the "Emby username/email:" field? This is probably an entirely different issue now, but I'm not sure if it's worth an entirely new thread.

This is going to be fixed in the upcoming release, which will go stable anytime now, so stay tuned.

I just wanted to confirm that I am getting the same 'ConnectServerID' error while trying to add my Emby Connect Username/Email with Emby Server on Debian 8.0. Looking forward to the update, I will be checking the repos every day and will report back with hopefully good news after I receive the update.
