Old MB client not working anymore?

Hi,

I still use the old MB client on the Roku that even pre-dates the pre-Emby days..the original that has a gray and blue theme.

I've continued to use it b/c I have more success playing the .ts files I record from NextPVR..I have the Emby client downloading and do use it as well.

Anyway long story short, up until last night the old MB client has worked fine..but (seemingly) after last night's update to version 3.0.5582.4, I can't get it to work.  It gives me "unable to connect"...I've tried manually re-adding my LAN address that I confirmed has not changed, still using port 8096, but no dice.

Could it be a port forwarding issue on my router that's just popping up now with later releases of MB?  In the "Hosting" section of the advance tab in settings, there's local HTTP port number and Public http port number..could it be in there somewhere?  My port forwarding on my router has always worked fine in the past.  I'm having no issues logging in via the web or mobile device clients.

Thanks in advance!

The developer is no longer around so I honestly can't say. We have implemented new security requirements with all of the apps so that could potentially be the problem.

But we're happy to help get your ts files working with the Emby app.

Thanks Luke...

Yea below is my formal posting of the problem, the log is saying "Access token is invalid or expired" so I wonder if I could somehow grant it a new one..

I'll play more with the Emby client and report back what exactly it's doing...I just know that in the Emby client, I'll start a .ts file, and it might start out ok but then pixelate pretty badly then it'll like skip back a few seconds every few minutes.

Version 3.0.5582.4

I opened the old old MB Client on my Roku:

and get a "Unable to connect" popup...upon checking the IP address/port it should be going to, none of that is wrong..I've tried manually adding the server back in but get same thing.

Here's the log:

Let's work with the new app and figure out how to improve your playback. That old app doesn't support access tokens at all and would require a custom build of the server with security loopholes just to keep it running.

OK...

First problem I'm having is connecting to my NextPVR live TV...

Version 3.0.5582.4

Upon opening the Emby client on Roku, I navigate to Live TV, Channels, and try to play:

Normally after pressing play, it would go to a "loading ..." and then start but it just hangs on play, then crashes the app back out to the Roku home screen.

It works fine on the web app through Chrome..

Here is the server log, if you could reference right after 2015-04-17 14:22:20.9258 is when I clicked play on the Roku app:

I have the same issue and was using the old MB client for subtitled mkv anime. Seemed to work a lot better than I could get emby to work - I have a lag on emby and they appear as captions (ie in a little black ribbon) rather than as subtitles as they did in MB.

We convert the subs to text to avoid the expense of burning them in on the server. We can certainly add an option to opt out of that.

Hi Luke, ok I went into dev mode and installed the Roku (dev) 2.02..

Here is the log from when I tried to access Live TV, it's near the bottom of the log:

the request to the server to open the live stream from next pvr timed out. the server log may shed more light, although my guess is we're just going to see the same thing from the server to next pvr.

Here is the server log, I make the live stream attempt near the bottom of the log..

Could it have anything to do with not finding direct play profiles, i.e. "App: Profile: Roku, No direct play profiles found for Path: http://localhost:8868/live?channeloid=8764&client=MB3.1" ..

These are .ts streams, I wouldn't think the Roku could direct play those?  I know the Roku can play .mp4 but maybe it has to do more with whether it's H.264, I dunno..

Live TV via NextPVR has worked really really well for me all up until this morning.

Ok, update the zip again and this should be resolved. I've extended the client's timeout length for opening the live stream.

That did it!  Yes it seems once it had the few extra seconds, it finally starting "retrieving" the live stream.

Thanks again Luke...so this .zip is a beta/dev that will eventually make its way through Roku approvals and be an update to the Emby Roku app?

I'll keep my Roku(s) in dev mode with the .zip installed until then..

yes, it will be in the beta very soon but the public channel could take a couple weeks to go through roku's approval process.
