Can I ask a few users to report back about how the new throttle is working out? If you had to adjust your number requested at once from the server for the initial sync to complete, can you please reset the number requested back to 200, and go through the initial syncing process by resetting your local database. Let me know if the sync completes without crashing.

 

New:

  • Add a throttle (it will automatically adjust the number of items requested at once) to prevent crashing during the initial sync

Fix:

  • Do not update the video library when there's a music-only update
  • Fix to Next up, In-progress, Recent Emby view tag filtering

  • Update setting - skip emby delete confirmation, it is now under the extras tab and only affects the context menu prompt now.
  • Update setting - new content notification, it's now disables the notification for the media type, if the time is set to 0.
  • Prevent manual sync from running if the add-on is not yet connected to the emby server.

A new stable version will be released soon to fix newly found bugs in 2.2.0. For now the fixes are only available in beta.

 

New:

  • Offer delete dialog after playback now times out after 2 mins

Fix:

  • Fix artist/album link for music videos
  • Fix progress dialog when the manual sync runs at start up
  • Fix encoding error caused by special characters in emby username

Brand new:

Our Kodi repositories, both stable (now 1.0.3) and beta (now 1.0.5) received an update. Remember, you can install both side by side. If you do, remember to turn disable automatic updates which is usually found in the side panel. This will give you control over when to update your add-ons.

 

We have a new, more convenient way to install the repositories. It will also be used to host custom builds used for troubleshooting (alpha). For more information, visit our wiki: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/wiki/Emby-Repository 

  1. In the file manager, add the Emby Kodi source: http://kodi.emby.media
  2. Install from zip > Emby Kodi source you just created > Install one or both repositories.

Quick follow up to 2.2.4. Mostly bug fixes.

 

New:

  • Add generate a new device Id option, found in the add-on settings > advanced (Useful if you plan on copying your setup from Kodi to other devices)
  • Offer to delete cached thumbnails upon database local database reset

Fix:

  • Breaking fix for views. You will notice duplicates in your video nodes. When you have a moment to spare, run the refresh playlists/nodes action found by launching the emby add-on (this is not reversible). Your homescreen shortcuts actions will need to be redirected to the new playlists/nodes. New installs are not affected by this. This was a necessary change. Sorry for the inconvenient :(
  • Fix pictures, the shortcut should now appear under photo add-ons > emby.
  • Fix grouped views not adjusting
  • Fix view shortcuts to follow emby ordering. This changes the Emby.nodes.X ordering (automatically created shortcuts and via launching the emby add-on). This does not change the video nodes ordering.
  • Fix ssl client certificate verification
  • Fix resume
  • Prevent artwork deletion from crashing the add-on
  • Fix to import virtual season artwork

This is the last beta, I'll be releasing to stable in a few hours. This build is mostly for small fixes.

 

New:

  • Keymap shotcut to delete emby content using: RunPlugin(plugin://plugin.video.emby?mode=delete). The skip confirmation deletion does apply, please be careful with enabling the setting. It may take a few seconds to see the content disappear (this is a shortcut for the Emby context menu options > Delete).

Thanks for the support guys. Emby connect is still being worked on, however the focus at this moment is resolving any crashing issues remaining. Please report any bugs encountered, with your Kodi log: http://emby.media/co...port-a-problem/

 

Fix:

  • Fix strptime error
  • Temporary fix for database being locked (can be enabled under the add-on settings > sync options) : Only enable this setting if you experience database locked errors often. This will slow down the syncing performance. A permanent fix is in the works.
  • Fix watched status failing to update if offer delete after playing is enabled but skipped

If anyone is using play from HTTP, can I please have some feedback regarding the new external subs option? I am mostly interested in knowing if it effects how quickly playback starts.

 

Add:

  • NEW: Default to HTTP playback out of the box, when selecting add-on playback mode. To use Samba (SMB), the option can be disabled via add-on settings > playback. We all agreed, this would be the most user-friendly approach to achieving Direct Play for new users. Note, this change only effects new installs.
  • Add option to download external subtitles when playing from HTTP (add-on settings > playback) - This is a workaround to the external subs label issue. With this new option, playback should be on par with SMB playback.
  • Add string translation (German, French and Portuguese)

Fix:

  • Fix navigation not waking up display
  • Fix fast sync being used to save update times when plugin is not installed
  • Fix TV Show detection when verifying if the series exists when using native playback mode.

This is a big update with the implementation of Emby connect. Add:

  • NEW! Option to sign in using Emby connect when you first set up. To help test, you will need to reset your local database, including your Emby information. Find more information below!
  • Design revamp for the initial setup process. There's still a few things still to be reviewed and added.
  • Sync season name for Kodi Jarvis and higher. This will only effect naming moving forward. Refreshing individual seasons in the Emby metadata manager, or via the Emby Kodi context menu option will update the season naming. You can also run a repair sync by launching the Emby add-on.
  • Expand the video quality selection (25/30/35 Mpbs) - thanks @3lysium
  • Move the device Id to a permanent location to outlive the reinstall of the add-on - thanks @@Delphi
  • Automatic detection of internal/external server address

Fix:

  • Fix virtual episodes crashing the library sync
  • Fix plugin listing such as home videos not loading
  • Fix platform detection - thanks @@Delphi

 

Emby Connect

 

IMPORTANT: There's a current bug with the token provided for using Emby connect at this time. This prevents the websocket from communicating with your server and therefore breaks real-time updates in Kodi. Luke is aware of the situation and is looking to get this resolved. The fix will be coming server side as this is not an Emby for Kodi issue. Once this is resolved, I'll make an announcement. If you decide to use Emby connect at this time, a manual sync can be run to get the latest updates until then, by launching the Emby add-on.

 

Right now, Emby Connect has been implemented to provide a way to identify yourself and select the main server to be synced to Kodi. This means at this time, you will find the option to sign in the add-on settings, but it won't do anything if you are already logged in. ;)  However in the future, it will allow us to add features such as supporting access to multiple Emby servers within one Kodi profile. Other servers won't be synced to the Kodi database, but will be accessed as plugin listing which can be added to your home screen.

 

I hope you enjoy this release! There may be a few quirks, because I've implemented a new login system. Please report any weird migration issue you may encounter with logs, thanks.
