Hello all,

After the recent beta updates to the server, emby wmc  reports an error trying to play anything from these channels:

Play On, Revision 3, TuneIn, Vimeo & ITV.

I select play, the screen goes black and I get the message - Cannot Play Video  Windows Media Center cannot connect to the server. The server name may be incorrect or the server is busy. Try again later.

This message is the same for all except TuneIn which states - Audio Error   Windows Media Center cannot connect to the server. The server name may be incorrect or the server is busy. Try again later.

All these channels work within the dashboard/web player and on Android. seems to be a problem with emby wmc.

Logs:

Emby WMC: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3x410rc5jv0baqb/MBClassic-2732015432a0b54781f47e6947b0309566e5ff6.log?dl=0

Emby Server: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7t7t0urgz7pofac/server-63563034932.txt?dl=0

I hope this is an easy fix...

Thanks! :)

There is no context information in your MBC log because you set your logging level to only error.  You should set that back to debug (will probably have to manually edit the config file).

However, it looks like this is related to a problem with the remote servers (the channel content providers).  Our server is throwing errors due to errors like this:

Unable to connect to the remote server

The server has just updated to beta 3.0.5557.40000

Changed the logging back to debug (emby wmc) and tried connecting again.  Instead of the cannot play message, it now crashes emby wmc back to media center with the message Program not responding. the media browser program has stopped responding and you will be returned to wmc.

I thought I had restarted the server before testing, so the server log is rather big.

Unfortunately, there is no relevant error information in either of those logs.  What specific channel did you test?  Does it work in the web client?

I tested the Rev 3 channel only. after I select it, there is a pause then emby crashes back to wmc.

All my installed channels work in the web client too. What else can I try? Is there a way to get better logs for you?

I also checked the event viewer for Media Center to see if there was something reported - nothing.

THe server updated to beta 3.0.5569.0 and still get the same results.

here are the versions of the problem channels"

can you post one log per channel, and if the server generates a transcoding log, provide that too. they could all be separate problems so they'll need to be looked at individually.

I also noticed Beeg and PlayOn haven't been working, but I figured it was just me.

Sorry it took a little bit to get to these. It's been a good week.

Server is now at beta 3.0.5572.0

No transcoding logs were generated. Plus the logs for classic don't show much since it crashes when selecting these channels, but here they are anyway.

Also checked to see if any windows event logs generated - none

Let me know what else I can do to help and Thank you!

Please try dev version 262 of MBC.  That should fix the crashing but I think some channels are having playback issues globally.

Updated Emby Classic to dev 262. No more crashing like you stated, but will not play. Giving the same error messages from post #1.

I checked the other channels that worked and they still work (Jupiter, podcasts, trailers & twit)

Something I noticed, but not sure if it's relevant. I had a windows 8.1 laptop here yesterday and I noticed that the Emby Server and PlayOn server showed up as DLNA devices (saw them when I opened the This PC window). I went into the folders and was able to play live tv, movies and shows from the links. I opened up the channels folder and all the channels I listed above have nothing in them, while the channels that work had the links populated and would play. Might not matter, but thought I should mention it.

Would you like some fresh logs?

Yeah, I guess we'd need server and transcode logs for the channels that don't play.

In my case playing channels caused mbc to exit back to wmc.  This isnt happening with 262. However titles are still not playing.  I can select them and press play but nothing happens.  There are no transcode logs but I attach the server and mbc logs.

Can you play the exact same item with the web client?

Okay, play it with the web client for a little bit.  Then stop it and try to play it with MBC.  Then post the server, MBC and transcode logs and denote which transcode log goes to which playback.  Thanks.

Here is what is happening on the server when MBC tries to play that item:

Updating the server to Version 3.0.5582.0 has fixed the problem completely for me. All channels are working again in Emby Classic!

Thanks, Luke and all involved with the fix! :)

The Podcasts plugin has been updated with a new configuration screen to match the look and feel of the rest of Emby Server. I think you'll find it much more enjoyable to use and configure now. Thanks.
