360 Extenders, LAV and Shark's alternate extender support

I've been using MBC with 360 extenders and the Shark007 codec pack for quite a while now with few issues. I've got mostly MKV's and a handful of MP4's and everything pretty well just works. For some random reason I decided to try and simplify and go all LAV and since doing so, the picture quality of pretty much everything is significantly degraded. It's very blocky and laggy. I recall having this issue early on with my WMC setup and Shark007 and the option to "enable alternate extender support" in the Shark setup was the solution. What exactly does this do? Is there a similar change that can be made with the LAV setup that does the same thing and fixes these quality issues?

disregard. I deleted and re-added my extenders and the problem was resolved.
