I am trying to migrate  MB server from WD DX4000 (Win Server 2008) to a dedicated media server.(Win 7)

Ccurrent server

User name:administrator

New server

User name Medi

I have the plugin Server Configuration Backup running

Question

do you have step by step instructions?

can I use the Plugin (above)?

how do I cope with different system paths?

thanks anyway for a great piece of s/w! I am a big fan.

With the plugin you would check all the options you want to backup, then point the plugin on new system to your backup location click on the backup in the list and that will bring up the restore option.  If you chose to backup your library definitions then you would have to update those paths.

I have read al this and my main question is, how to deal with the different user name impact on the paths. Will this automatically resolve itself?

You can map user data from users on the old server to different ones on the new one but it cannot translate paths for you from the library definitions.

Is it possible for you to keep the paths the same?  This is another advantage to using UNC in the library definition as it would be fairly easy to keep the paths the same.

Even if you can't, re-setting up just the library shouldn't be a huge piece of work (hopefully).

I managed to complete the migrate.

1. I used configuation backup to backup settings

2 created Administrator ac using builtin acc

3. installed mb and recreated all the folders

4. stopped all tasks

5. installed plugin and restored backup

that worked but now I cant access from other pc
