Here is my home screen using the Chocolate theme with EHS turned off. Clean, consistent, easy to understand:And this is what it looks like after entering the TV section:Awful looking mix of icons, thumbs/posters and an empty folder symbol for favorites, which I don't have any and would rather not have there at all. For some reason 2 of the 4 genre icons shown are not my user defined ones (I have no missing ones).It would be much better to have a default set of icons based on the same flat design as used for the ones on the home screen, and have them customizable by way of the IBN folder. This would provide much better consistency. IMHO there should be a set of default images used for navigation on every screen which are used everywhere except on the actual item level, unless a specific "enable customization" option has been activated.I have noticed that there are already default images in the ImagesByName\views\... directories. They are loaded onto the home screen (Movies, TV, Music, etc) but not on the next level (MovieCollections, MovieResume, etc). Is there a way to force this?I am pretty obsessive about my images and I would say I have near 100 percent consistency with all the main images for every item in my collection. Yet I end up with this haphazard looking MBC UI.The design of those library views needs to be revisited. I am noticing that a lot of the localization from the server is showing up in in MBC. I'm looking forward to seeing all but the very client specific settings disappear from the MBC config section (which to be honest is pretty awful with its shoot-in-the-dark approach to which setting is found where) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The only one provided by MBC is the Next Up one (the TV camera) and it can be overridden as well. I agree they don't really fit with other things but this is what the server generates for those views. I guess they fit in better in the web client. You can override them using the IBN General folder. Are you sure about this? Those folders appear to be in the IBN "views" folders. They are named "TVResume", "TVLatest" etc. and contain images named poster.jpg, landscape.jpg and a folder.xml file. All of these are ignored by MBC. I tried copying the TVResume folder into the IBN General folder but that had no effect in MBC. Interestingly, however, the two.png files in the "tvshows" directory as shown in the image above are both identical and were placed there by the web interface when I used it to replace the top level section images. As I wrote above it is already pre populated by folders containing images which are not being used, except on the top level (e.g. views\tvshows).I first wanted to replace the top level images (the ones which appear on the home screens of the clients and the web interface). So I placed my own poster.jpg and landscape.jpg files in the "boxsets", "movies" etc. folders in ImagesByName\views. They were not picked up by any of the clients. But when I used the web interface to change the top level view images it worked. And guess where the web interface stores those new images? In IImagesByName\views...Evidently images placed there are ignored unless it has been done by the web interface - which only allows editing of the top level images. No luck. I created "Resume" and "Next Up" in IBN/General but that had no effect at all. Looking at the (at this point mostly ignored) IBN/views hierarchy, there are separate folders for each top view, each with sub-folders for resume, latest, etc. If I use IBN/General maybe there should be a similar structure? ebr 14910 Posted February 21, 2015 Share Posted February 21, 2015 You need to treat the file system structure in that views area like the Wizard of Oz. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain because I'm not sure exactly how the server is using that and it may have been evolving over time. It appears that the server isn't consistently managing the way images are handled when it comes to the sub-views delivered by the top views and I don't think there is any way for you to manage them yourself on the server right now. The IBN should work though so I'll have to try that out again and see if something broke it. (Yes, that image is upcoming because it is actually added by MBC). I had the display language set to Swedish on the server and it would not pick up any images from IBN/General regardless of whether the folder names were in English or Swedish.
