XiaNYdE 13
I am currently switching from MBT to Kodi (with the Titan skin) as my front-end and really do like it so far, having the live tv and the ability to handle my .flac library displayed properly and without the need for horrid transcoding is awesome. I am now at the point where i need to add profiles for the family as they have their own favourites, watched lists etc... adding the profiles seems easy enough and i understand i have to set the correct MBS username in each profile but i would like to know if it's possible to copy the main category layout to each of the created profiles in Kodi?? After initially playing around and deciding Kodi was the way to go i set all my categories up, with their sub-categories, however when i create another profile all the categories etc.. are the initial default and not the way i have set them up, is it possible to copy my categoty settings across to the other profiles i have created for the family or am i stuck going through and setting them up for each profile on each and every computer in the house?? Angelblue05 4130
It is possible to achieve what you are looking to do. When you create a profile, it should prompt you if you'd like to copy settings from the default profile. If you say yes, it will duplicate the skin/menu settings to the newly created profile. I did select this option but it doesn't seem to be working, when creating the profile i select Shares with Default (Read Only) for both Media Info and Media Sources, i then select yes when the option appears to copy settings however it is failing to do so, also when i go into the add-ons on the new profile to point the MB3 add-on to the server and add the appropriate username it's maintaining all my watched/unwatched info and not grabbing the appropriate info for the kids profiles. EDIT: After a couple of restarts the correct watched/unwatched info is appearing for the profile but the settings are staying as default and have not changed to match my layout (using the Titan skin if that makes any difference) Edited January 27, 2015 by XiaNYdE
Angelblue05 4130
It might be a silly question, but is the default profile (the first profile in the list) the one you set up your settings on? And then, you created the new profiles to copy from the default profile, after the default profile was already set up the way you wanted, correct? Yes, that is correct, there is just the one profile atm, that being mine and i am trying to add one for each of the kids, although just adding my sons right now until i can get the duplication working... i was just going to copy the necessary info from the appdata folder but cannot pinpoint exactly what generates the menus that i need to copy. Angelblue05 4130
I believe it's part of the guisettings.xml, you will need to do some research as it's really Kodi oriented, I would hate to give you bad information.
XiaNYdE 13
@@Angelblue05 thank you for trying to help but i beleive i found the manual way of doing it, i copied the script.skinshortcuts folder from \AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data to \AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\profiles\username\addon_data and the menus appeared as they should and all appears to be working just fine, i'll play around a little more to make sure, but it seems to have solved the problem, this would also allow me to copy the settings from the main HTPC to each of the kids laptops, saving a huge amount of time but it does seem there is a bug in Kodi preventing the settings from transferring from one profile to another. EDIT: For anyone else running into the same problem, the fix i mentioned above works flawlessly, it's also great for copying the menu layout to another desktop or notebook, saved me a bunch of time rebuilding menu's on each of the kids laptops Edited January 27, 2015 by XiaNYdE

The menu settings for the titan skin are saved in addon_data\script.skinshortcuts. If you also want to copy (or backup) your skin settings you can copy the file guisettings.xml Maybe nice to know is that I'm working on a skin backup/restore function in the Titan skin.
