Media Browser Server Version: 3.0.5050.37565
Clients: Library Explorer, Internet Explorer 10.0, Android Client v14, iOS Client

I've setup a TV Show 'Perception' which holds 2 seasons.

Media Browser Server picked up the TV Show fine.
After a couple of days I deleted the complete map of Season 2 from the hard drive as I needed the hard drive space.
It isn't physical there anymore. There is only a 'Season 1' map on the hard drive.
To my surprise 'Season 2' still shows in a more or less way in the different clients.

Library Explorer on the Media Browser Server
I've selected 'Physical', checked 'Force' and clicked 'Refresh' button.
It doesn't matter if I select one of the users and click 'Refresh'.
'Season 2' is still showing including the episodes of 'Season 2'.

Internet Explorer 10.0
The TV Show capitel 'Seasons' shows that there are 2 seasons: 'Seasons (2)'.
But shows only 'Season 1' as a choice. Which is correct.
There is a problem with the videoplayer in this server version though.
I will open a new topic for that problem.

Android Client
Both 'Season 1' and 'Season 2' are showing in the 'Seasons' screen of this TV Show.
Clicking on 'Season 2' shows all episodes of the season including details: Picture, Title, Rating etc.
Clicking on an episode within 'Season 2' leads to an empty screen.
And eventually the app crashes when using the back button.

iOS Client
Both 'Season 1' and 'Season 2' are showing in the 'Seasons' screen of this TV Show.
Clicking on 'Season 2' shows all episodes of the season including details: Picture, Title, Rating etc.
Clicking on an episode within 'Season 2' leads to the details of that episode.
Clicking on 'Play' button takes you to the player but returns to the episode screen.

I think the 'Scan Media Library' and/or the 'Cache File Cleanup' should have taken out the 'Season 2' data for this TV Show from the database.

This^

Some of the clients haven't yet updated yet to handle missing and unaired episodes. Check your individual client settings to see if there is an option.

Android Client
There is no support (yet??) for unaired - or missing episodes

iOS Client
There is no support (yet??) for unaired - or missing episodes

Media Browser Server
There are settings available in Dashboard -> User Profiles -> Settings for missing - and unaired episodes.
Neither one is checked for the User that is used by the Android - and iOS client

There is a mentioning about Orphaned Movie titles in another topic.
The answer given was that Media Browser doesn't have a funcionality (yet?) to clean up these ghosts records.
I think the answer can be extended to seasons / episodes as well.

I'll correct this issue manually by editing the xml file.
But it would be nice if Media Browser would take care of these ghost records in Movies and TV Shows in the near future.
I'm not certain if it also occurs in the Music section.

These are not "ghost" records and this issue is very different from the one you referenced.  In that one, the person had re-named an episode video file which, as far as we are concerned is the same as deleting that episode and then adding it back with a different file name.  This process left behind some metadata files which were never referenced again.

So, that is very different than this issue.

I'm pretty sure the Android client has an option for whether or not to show the missing/unaired items.  Not sure about iOS yet.

Finally, the option in the dashboard is poorly labeled and we will correct that.  That option does not control whether or not items are imported into the collections.  It only controls whether or not they are shown in the web client.

What version are you using, as there is support in beta 15.

The Android Client v15 does have the option to block unaired - and missing episodes.

But v15 has a glitch as it won't show Movies. I had to revert back to v14.5.

It turns out that this new feature (showing unaired episodes / seasons and missing episodes) is not fully implemented in the different clients.

The Web interface in conjunction with IE10 shows a minor glitch as it counts an unaired season which it shouldn't as the settings on the server side are NOT to show these episodes / seasons.

The unaired season itself nor missing episodes is NOT shown.

This is correct.

The Android (v14.5) - and iOS clients are ignoring the server settings at the moment.

I expect this feature will be implemented in these clients in the near future.

So, there was no problem, there is a new feature!
