Watched the extended Desolation of Smaug, a lot of the new scenes I think should have been there in the first place. If you read the book and watched both versions you'll know what I mean. As with any other LOTR film, I give 400/10 :P

I'm a kiwi and was a big fan of the rotr trilogy ...but can't help feeling the hobbit movies are just over indulgent as the hobbit book is much different in tone detail and length. .and imho does not need 9hrs to tell the story

The Hobbit was originally supposed to be 2 movies but then it turned into 3. I'm not sure if Peter Jackson decided that he didn't want to cut anymore or if there was an orginizational decision to milk the franchise for the extra movie. I think it's pretty obvious when you watch the three movies that you could easily cut it down to 2 very very long movies or 2.5 normal movies. This may have been the crux of the problem, what else to cut to make it two.

The story is hard to beat and it's not enough to sway me from enjoying the movies but it may have been even better to just have made two like planned.

Condorman, 1981

So, tonight I watched a movie from my childhood, Condorman. It's an old Disney film from 1981 that I had watched as a kid and remembered enjoying it. For some reason it was/is almost impossible to find in the US (except for outrageous prices lately). There was a good 10 years when you couldn't even buy it if you wanted. Anyway, Disney now has it as part of their Disney Club exclusive film collection and I was able to purchase it during one of their sales (for only a slightly outrageous price :) )

The movie is about a comic book writer who pretends to be a spy. He plays a character from his comic book, Condorman, and is requested to escort a Russian defector to the US. There is nothing complex with the story and the special effects weren't top notch even for their time but you can't help but enjoy the movie. It's got action, comedy, gadgets, and a damsel in distress... It's Bond in yellow spandex!

If you can find it I'd highly recommend you watch it if you want a light action movie.

I give the movie a 7/10 but a 10/10 for it's nostalgic value.

Good day,

Regarding the "The Hobbit" by Peter Jackson, I saw trailer for the upcoming last one, and it seem Gandalf died in that part.

My best

I watched 22 Jump Street over the weekend. I didn't think I would find it as funny as I did. I loved the sketch at the end with all the trailers for the 'sequels'.

I really like the 2 movies of the "The Hobbit" and I really see Peter Jackson doing great job as he did with LOTR.

Seems my youngest son like adv. titles as I do, hoping to more coming from these type.

I fall asleep far too often during a film... Mainly because I find it difficult to get to sleep without some kind of noise in the background. So 99% of the time I put a movie on to watch, often I get no more than a 20-30 mins in before I doze off... Once the movie ends, the screensaver kicks in after a minute, and the TV will shut down shortly afterwards. So there's nothing to keep me awake and I don't have the sound up loud, often just the subtitles (if I've got them).

Sometimes It will take me several days to watch a film because I keep getting partway through before I fall asleep... I have dozens and dozens of movies that I've seen the first half 20 times, and the end of it... perhaps twice.   :)

This is why my traktv history is littered with crappy films at odd times of the night, I only put on films that I've seen before if I know I've going to try and sleep.

Watched "Blue Ruin" Today.... Well acted, great script and good use of suspense in this Thriller.  Quite a deep movie but a nice pace.

found it a thoroughly good watch.

Red alert! "Into the storm" is really terrible.

The only character development in the whole film Happens for no reason, and there is no reason behind why tornados are destroying everything in thief path... Which is the plot of the entire movie.

OMG, Now that I think about it, there is no reason the events happening in the movie even have purpose.

On a side note, the movie "Harry Brown" is an absolutely fantastic film.

The CGI is quite spectacular, it puts Twister to shame, but Twister has better acting . Haha...

Loved the film Harry Brown. It has been one of the few films over the last 5-6 years that lived up to or surpassed my expectations on essentially every level.

Yeah Hercules was pretty terrible, I mean I watched it and was moderately entertained, but it wasn't good :P

Going to watch Automata later today which looks like a ripoff of I, Robot, but still looks decent, anyone seen that yet?

Harry Brown is utterly brutal and relentless.  It is a great film but I do find its totally unforgiving representation of urabn youth slightly disturbing.  Thats why I will see you your Harry Brown and raise youa na Attack the Block.  While it has equally scummy inner city kids they are at least goven the chance at character growth and redemption.  I even like the lofi aliens.
