shoeless 0
I installed the server on my htpc and MB3 on the same computer, with the roku app installed on the (wired) Roku 3. Live TV plays perfectly on the htpc through mediabrowser, but only runs for about 20 seconds on the roku. Occasionally (like once) live TV the Roku played for more than that amount of time, but i don't know what allowed that to happen. I tried pausing the live TV stream on the Roku to see if it would then build a buffer, but no luck. It still gives me 18-20 seconds of TV and then goes back to the prior menu page. I tried it on both Roku MB apps, but I get the same result. I have changed download speeds from as little at 3mbp to as high as 20 mbp and changed throughput on the htpc from 5mbp all the way up to 30mbp and still get the same result. I don't know how to create a log file, but would be happy to do so if someone can walk me through it. I searched all over the forum but found no one with this same issue. If you know the answer or have experienced this, please let me know what to do. Thanks
Luke 36998
Hi there. Please see here for information on how to post logs and other useful info: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/790-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
shoeless 0
Here is a just-created log file of the problem> Thanks http://paste2.org/a0B6Zj4J
Luke 36998
well thanks, but please see the above link on log posting guidelines. that's really just a snippet that doesn't give me the whole picture.
shoeless 0
version number 3.0.5445.6 transcoding: http://paste2.org/vLw9ZBAf log file (again): http://paste2.org/a0B6Zj4J These are new log files, which the server created after the app was opened on the roku and a stream for livetv was initiated. The selected program plays for about 20 seconds that kicks me out to the prior screen, which gives me the options to play or record the channel. Happens with both roku apps, but the logfile is the app with the black rather than the blue background (don't know what it is called, specifically). shoeless 0
?? Did I include all the relevant data in the second attempt? Thanks
Luke 36998
ffmpeg exits normally because it thinks it has reached the end of the stream. @@krustyreturns what do you think? perhaps some buffer or delay that can be increased? Unfortunately this is a difficult problem to solve. I can tell you don't have an hd homerun with dlna support because then it would be streaming from a dlna url which is much more reliable. without that it reverts to the fallback method. in this case serverwmc is writing to a file while ffmpeg is simultaneously reading it. it's just a tricky operation. krustyreturns 191
You can edit the config file of serverwmc and increase the buffer delay for live streams. Go to the debug tab in serverwmc and choose 'edit settings file'. Then search for BufferDelayLiveMS and change it to the number of milli-seconds of delay you want to build up. For example: <BufferDelayLiveMS>5000</BufferDelayLiveMS> is a buffer delay of five seconds. Then save the file and restart a live stream on your roku. shoeless 0
Thanks. I'll give that a try tonight. Is there any theoretical limit to the size of the buffer. Is 10,000ms better than 5,000ms etc? Is there a point of marginal utility?
krustyreturns 191
None that I can think of.
shoeless 0
Bumped it to 10000ms and it now takes longer to start up, but now I get 25 seconds of programming before it craps out.
krustyreturns 191
Yeah sorry, this has been a long running problem and I don't know why it effects some systems more than others. You can check out this thread and see if solutions that some users reported success with work for you. http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/6548-live-channels-stream-stopping/?hl=2000&do=findComment&comment=106515
shoeless 0
Would the DLNA-ready HD HomeRun solve the problem?
