After tranferring my server to another machine, images metadata is missing and rescanning doesnt work

I used official backup tools to finish the trasnfer, only kept the metadata and user data.

Only actors images still dont display correctly. Others are fine. 

 

Rescanning in library page doesnt work

If I rescan the metadate per movie, it works though

But I can't do it manually for every movie/tv

 

Is it an api limit issue or server issue? 

the error in the browser is 

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

 

All my metadata source is from tmdb

Hi, you can do it with fewer clicks by doing it from a parent folder level. Have you tried that?

Are you libraries named and pointing to the exact same libraries as the old server? Everything has to be the same for it to work I think. Could also be a permission issue. Is this an emby server on the same OS or did you do a fresh install and use a different windows/Linux account to set things up

I think I found the problem, but I dont know how to fix it

 

I use Michael as the example

 

As you can see, many actors that has blank pics are not in the metadata folder. I have to click the actor to get the pic.

But rescanning the metadata wont work. 

Any idea how to fix it?

Hi, try refreshing the metadata one of the movies or series that those actors belong to.

That works but I have thousands of movies in the library and I dont think clicking them 1 by 1 is a good idea

Also even new added movies still has this issue.

Now that you've confirmed that it works, you can do it on a parent folder or folders to reduce the number of clicks that it will take to get it done.

I mean I added  the movie The Graduate to the library yesterday. It still didnt get all actors pic after 1st rescanning the library (2nd time should be fine). I thought those actor pics were lost after transferring the server and the new added ones should be fine. Not the case it seems.

Anyway, I did a fresh installattion and it works again. So the backup tool is still buggy?

Hi, no, it just depends on what you select to include in the backup. If you don’t select everything then some things will require manual fix up.

Like what i said above, the same issue happened again for those movies i added after the transfer. If every new movie I need rescan to ensure to get the correct metadata, there must be something wrong imo.
