ChoiceOxide 2 Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Hi I've done some researching but can't find a conclusive answer anywhere. When playing specific videos with 5.1 audio on a ChromeBox in both the Web App and the Emby App, the centre dialogue channel isn't audible. Some 5.1 audio files do work, and as far as I can tell it is only the AAC encoded audio specifically with the LC profile that doesn't work. Is there any sort of fix or workaround for this that doesn't involve manually downmixing each file or similar? Side Note: The Android for TV app does play this audio correctly but in ChromeOS it warns that the app is built for mobile and resizing is unstable. Which then proves true because the video interface breaks in fullscreen and sometimes just crashes the app. The general android app has these same resizing issues but then also has the 5.1 audio issue.
Luke 41225 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
ChoiceOxide 2 Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 Hi Luke, Sorry I haven't done that full report because I've seen others go through the process on these forums and it hasn't gone anywhere. But I did find a solution! There is an extension available in the Chrome browser called Multi Channel Audio Converter+ which lets you choose 2-channel stereo output for the Emby tab and seems to work well. This extension does show something I saw elsewhere though, which is that apparently ChromeOS mistakenly reports HDMI audio output as having 6 channels available even when the connected device doesn't. This extension just lets you choose 2-channel manually. Hope that helps anyone with a similar problem! 1
