DisplayName2 2 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Getting the above error from Apple TV and iOS. Server is Windows 10 running the latest production version and also installed the latest beta version to test as well. I am able to connect and watch using a web browser just fine. Uninstalled and reinstalled the client apps. Both find the server automatically but clicking on the server name gives the error "This Emby Server needs to be updated. To download the latest version, please visit https://emby.media". Typing in the IP and default port of the server returns the same error. Server, Apple TV, and iPhone are on the same local network. This is my first time using Emby so I can't say if a recent software change to server or client broke it or not.
DisplayName2 2 Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Wanted to add that I also restarted the Emby Server application and the physical server itself. Windows is up to date as well.
Happy2Play 9435 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 What server version? What client version? Do you run more than just Emby?
DisplayName2 2 Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Server version: Version 4.9.1.0 beta (Windows 10) Client version: 2.2.39 (iOS) Yes, the same server is also running Plex. And has run Jellyfin in the past.
Luke 40018 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!

To generate some relevant log items for you in embyserver.txt, I attempted to log in using the iOS client then opened/refreshed the log and no new entries are generated. So I logged in from a different browser and checked the log again. This time it generated a POST with my browser info and OS and a Response saying "full capabilities". It seems no traffic is even making it to the server to verify the version info from the Client. I checked and confirmed Local Network permission is granted in iOS. Checking the logs on my DNS server shows the following is blocked when the app opens/tries to connect to the server: firebaseinstallations.googleapis.com device-provisioning.googleapis.com Would that have anything to do with it?

I thought I had read something like that. But I checked and it is not running (verified in task manager). I can access Emby using that port.

Hi, I wouldn't think so, but the server log would help us determine that for certain.

DisplayName2 2 Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 1 hour ago, Luke said: Have you set a custom display name for your server? It automatically filled in the server's host name for that field. And that's what would show when I launched the app. I just changed it to "test" and relaunched the app... and it went right to my username/password without displaying the server name first and logged in. It works fine now! Thanks for your help. 1
