Fire Cube Skip forward issue

I am running the latest version on my fire Cube, emby for Android 3.4.65 (not the android tv/fire tv version) and when I start a TV show I like to skip forward the first 30 seconds.

It seems like only on that initial skip forward it doubles the time (to 60 seconds). After that initial skip it behaves normally.

I also tried this on my android phone and it skipped forward 30 like it should so this may be related to just the fire Cube

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

I am running docker emby server 4.8.11.0

Hi, are you sure you're not double pressing?

Thanks for the response. Yes I only hit the fast forward once. I uploaded a 5 second clip of me skipping forward. You can see it skips to 32 seconds which is correct but then immediately goes to 1 minute. I have 3 fire cubes and i have the same issue on all of them. Thanks

@FrostBytehave you seen this happen?

Yes, I can make this happen on 3.4.68 on my Shield every time.

  • Start movie
  • Click FF once
  • movie jumps 30 seconds from current time and then immediately jumps to exactly the 1min time of the movie

I cannot make it happen after the 1min time in the movie

So I purchased premier this morning and turned on intro skip. Now the issue is gone. It no longer moves to 1 minute. Hopefully that helps

Nevermind disregard my previous post. I am not sure why it worked earlier but now it does not. I still have the same issue going to 1 minute

I have done some further testing and found its anytime i play and item, whether its starting from the beginning or resuming. I have also double checked and I do not have this issue on my android phone, only the 3 fire cubes. Is there an official way I need to report this bug?

Thank you

Does this only happen with the FF button? What about just using the right arrow button as those two are essentially the same.

I am using the fire tv remote.  It happens on both the dpad, and the fast forward button. The only way I can get it to not jump to the nearest minute is by doing an action before. So what i mean is if i start a show, then i press down on the dpad to bring the menu up, then press right, it goes forward 30 seconds NOT rounded up to 1 minute. I have also tried clicking left, then right and that does NOT jump to 1 minute. It seems like that first action before the skip forward cancels out.

Also it only happens once. So after the initial jump to the nearest minute, skipping forward works great with no issues through the rest of the show.

Is there an official way I can submit this bug? Do you need emby logs?

Thank you

@FrostBytedo you still see this with 3.4.70?

@Luke@FrostByte I loaded up 3.4.70 and turned on logging. It still jumps forward to 1 minute. I have attached the log for reference.

A quick analysis from Gemini says: In summary: Yes, the log clearly shows the 30-second skip being initiated, followed almost immediately by another command that forces the player to the 1-minute mark. The mention of "Vlc Service" in the second seek command is a strong clue.

Hope this helps, Thank you

@Luke Yes, this problem is still there in .70 as Hunter995507 describes.  Click skip forward within the first minute and the app will skip the normal 30 seconds and then immediately skip to exactly the 1-minute time of the video being played.
