TugboatBill 16 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) I have NextPVR installed on a windows system and the web page for it works well with all 47 channels, guide (using schedules direct), recording etc. Normally this is all accessed via the NextPVR client plugin on my Libreelect (Kodi) devices and they see all the channels, guide, recordings, etc. I decided to add this directly to Emby (Premier). I added the plugin, rebooted and went through the setup. Everything looks good. I can see the guide and view channels. However I only see 5 channels, no more. I've rescanned & rebooted to no avail. NextPVR, Libreelec, and Emby are all the latest release. Edited May 3 by TugboatBill
Luke 39988 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Hi, I believe you need to go into nextpvr and donate to them and then they'll make all channels available through their api.
TugboatBill 16 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 ??? They limit channels to Emby but not Kodi nor the web page?
Luke 39988 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Hi, we work very hard on Emby and we thank you for your support. And they work very hard on their product and I'm sure they thank you for your support of them.
TugboatBill 16 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Attached is my log file. It appears the channels are being seen but Emby, but still only 5 of them appear in the guide. From the log: 2025-05-03 11:49:48.847 Info LiveTvService: NextPvr is limited to 5 channels. To import all channels into Emby, please become a NextPvr donator at https://www.nextpvr.com Is there a reason for this? It isn't mentioned in the wiki as far as I can find. I didn't need to be a donator for Libreelec/Kodi. I'm not opposed to making a donation, but would like to know why. embyserver.txt
Luke 39988 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Hi, it is just what NextPvr decided to do. But it sounds like you're getting quite a bit of use out of their software, so why not support them?
TugboatBill 16 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 So that message is from NextPVR and they've decided to limit the number of channels to Emby even though they don't limit Kodi?
TugboatBill 16 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 After some research it appears they do this as Emby has a paid (premier) version while Kodi doesn't. As a suggestion, I think it would be a good idea to mention this in https://emby.media/support/articles/Live-TV-NextPVR.html when it is rewritten to better match the current logic. Well, I'm off to donate. 1
emveepee 125 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 It was a compromise to allow Emby users to continue to use NextPVR after Emby went closed sourced and started charging. The integration is actually pretty crappy right now for LE and Kodi users previously recordings, timers and scheduling etc were universal. Now the design is to use only Emby clients. Not sure when TV Next comes if Emby will keep the PVR interface for Kodi users.
TugboatBill 16 Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 After making a donation I have all channels, but yes, existing recordings & timers don't show.
emveepee 125 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 That functionality was removed years ago. They want you to use Emby for everything.

TugboatBill 16 Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 When I first started on adding Next pvr neither m3u Tuner nor Next pvr were options in tv sources. All I had was HD Homerun. When I added the NextPVR plugin then (and only after restarting the server) Next pvr was a possible selection.

You would need to restart the emby server after installing a plugin. This need to restart the server shows on the dashboard as well. It is mentioned on the NextPVR plugin description screen. it is also mentioned on the Plugins Management support document Just did a test and after restarting the server after installing NextPVR plugin, it did appear as a source. I see that it is not configured through the m3u plugin - so we will need to make further changes to the support document Clicking on NextPVR as source, shows which does mention limitations for non donators
