djgray 0 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Greetings. I'm totally new to Emby so please forgive my confusion. The server is set up on a Debian 11 machine and seems to be running just fine. I've attempted to set up an Alexa Skill to have Alexa stream from the Debian server. I log in and my credentials are recognized, but then Alexa wants me to pick the server from a dropdown that is empty. There is a suggestion that I need to set the server up on Emby Connect. When I try that, it wants the URL to the server. The server is behind a firewall in my home at a 192.168.x.x address. Emby will never be able to see that. What am I missing here?
djgray 0 Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 UPDATE: Still fighting this war. I've set up port forwarding on my router for 7359, 8096, and 8920. I gave the Emby Connect the external IP of my router. Still no joy.
Luke 39783 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Hi, did you setup Emby Connect on your server by following this guide? Emby Connect
djgray 0 Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 (edited) Yes, sir, I did, but I'm walking through them again step by step. We'll see if I missed something, or did something incorrectly. Well . . . clearly I did, but . . . UPDATE: Hmmm, maybe it just took some time for things to sync up. I didn't change anything, but it appears the account has linked with the Alexa Skill and we are good to go! Thanks for the amazing tool and the helpful community. Edited April 19 by djgray
djgray 0 Posted April 20 Author Posted April 20 Clearly I spoke too soon, but . . . I have made forward progress. When I attempt to get Alexa to play something, she says, "Playing music from provider M. B. is not supported." What am I still missing? I have my Debian machine with Emby on it as "MisterMusic." I see that machine on the network and have successfully linked my Alexa account to that server in the Emby skill. On the server, I have mounted my music in seven ior eight specific folders by genre: E.g. "Blues" and "Jazz" etc. I've asked Alexa to play specific genres, and I've asked her to just play anything. No go. I'll just asked Alexa to ask Emby to play some music, exactly that wording, and I got the denial message. I've asked Alexa to "Launch" Emby. She does. Emby asks what I want to do. I've tried, "Play a few songs," and "Play Blues" and "Play Blues on MisterMusic." In every case, she says I need to purchase a premium license. All I'm trying to do it play my own mp3s off this MisterMusic server.
