This is your issue: Quote 2025-04-15 12:38:50.713 Info App: User policy for John. EnablePlaybackRemuxing: False EnableVideoPlaybackTranscoding: False EnableAudioPlaybackTranscoding: False 2025-04-15 12:38:50.713 Info App: Bitrate exceeds DirectPlay limit: media bitrate: 74854649, max bitrate: 40000001 2025-04-15 12:38:50.713 Info App: Bitrate exceeds DirectStream limit: media bitrate: 74854649, max bitrate: 40000001 2025-04-15 12:38:50.714 Info App: Bitrate exceeds DirectPlay limit: media bitrate: 74854649, max bitrate: 40000001 Item cannot DirectPlay as you have bandwidth restriction in place (either server side or client quality setting) nor can it be transcoded (to a lower bitrate) because you have user transcoding disabled - hence playback error. You need to either increase server-side bandwith limit/in-app quality or enable transcoding for that user. 1
MrJohnW1ck 2 Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 (edited) so if i increase the playback quality for the user will this issue be fixed Currently using 4k 40mbps one where i was getting the error so kindly advise if i need to turn on transcoding or inncrease quality as the serverside we are using 4gbps one Edited April 15 by MrJohnW1ck

You're trying to play 75 Mbps item: Quote media bitrate: 74854649, max bitrate: 40000001 If you can play it directly - sure, increase client quality (though do note that such high-bitrate items might not give satisfactory performance over remote connection as there are more factors in play than just bandwidth, primarily latency and jitter - though nothing is preventing you to play around a bit and find the settings that suit you best, you can always revert whatever changes you've made).
MrJohnW1ck 2 Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 i was able to make videos play i turned on transcoding both video and audio However i have a below doubt. > The in app limit we are placing say my video is at 1080p 60mbps i set the limit as 1080 40mbps,will i be getting the error as no stream avail or will i be able to play the video. > also how much of cpu will it be taking of myserver if i run with transcoding cuz i figured it must be that transcoding was off due to which videos were not played. as i have a 24gb ram and 4 core cpu

Else it'd error out, same as your original issue. 14 minutes ago, MrJohnW1ck said: > also how much of cpu will it be taking of myserver if i run with transcoding There is no exact answer to that as too many variables are involved, only testing on your particular setup can provide some empirical evidence. HWA (Premiere subscription required) would help there a lot. Playback Methods Transcoding Hardware Acceleration Overview Edited April 15 by GrimReaper
Solution MrJohnW1ck 2 Posted April 15 Author Solution Posted April 15 after checking it was the apps quality setting which was giving me the error now i changed the quality to auto for both home and remote now its working 1
