Carlo 4552 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Hi, Try copying the URL of one of these problem channels and play it back in VLC. Does it play normally or loop as you experienced in Emby? Carlo
bryan_remote 5 Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 I will evaluate using vlc and get back with you asap. 1
CharlesF 23 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 This is an emby issue, I don't get this issue using VLC, and it happens with multiple IPTV providers.
Solution Carlo 4552 Posted March 11 Solution Posted March 11 This is almost always a provider issue. Not a source, but provider issues in sending or acquiring streams. Check out this short 3-page thread on NextPVR https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=59828 where sub explains many causes of this. Properly sourced streams will not have issues like this, so if you're seeing this with "multiple" sources, it's likely more to do with how and where you'll looking. You "get what you pay for" has a lot of merit when it comes to IPTV.
bryan_remote 5 Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 For now, I believe you are correct, Carlo....I did see it skipping and rewinding on VLC as well. However, it seems to be back to infrequently now. I am closing this post. Thank you both for the assist,,, Emby rocks 2
CharlesF 23 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 This only happens to me using emby...doesn't happen when using native smart tv apps, or when using VLC, just when using emby

BillOatman 574 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 In my experience, this happens from time to time with all providers. They call it "looping". I believe the stream data when captured goes into a circular buffer, if the source of the data has a problem and cannot keep the buffer full, when the streaming mechanism loops around it will eventually start replaying stale data. Usually this is a transient situation and if your provider has a help desk, they can usually correct it pretty quickly. Of course, that is not going to help if you are recording. You can see it on multiple providers because they source the actual stream data from the same place (they generally do not capture the stream data themselves). I see this in Tivimate as well, not just Emby. As Carlo said above ... You "get what you pay for" has a lot of merit when it comes to IPTV. 1
JanS48 2 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Greetings - newbie to Emby here I read this post and had this exact same issue with NextPVR - it happened to me when I attempted to make simultaneous recordings of streaming channels the files get created but when played back they exhibit this looping issue. I just installed Emby and was hoping it would not do this "looping' thing. I've been testing quite a few windows apps in hopes that I could find one that can do simultaneous stream recordings. This thead kind of puts a damper on my Emby hopes. I did actually find a product that would reliably do simultaneous recordings: ProgDVB / ProgTV3 but they are VERY buggy with screen lockups and an absoutely terrible UI. and it will cost you around 45 bucks to try it all out - don't waste your money... I plan on moving forward with testing Emby doing this but now I have my doubts. Good luck with everything. And a question if you could - In Live TV I setup a local (fairly large) playlist (m3u) and a large epg.xml file When I tap channels at the top of the screen it says something like no entries - this combo [ m3u and xml ] work nicely in a couple of different players - PotPlayer for one - Now the big question - I have not purchased Premium yet and the screen does say that Premium IS required for Live TV and DVR services - If I purchase the Premium pkg will it fix my - no channels ? Anyone have any experience with getting simultaneous streaming recordings working reliably ? Thanks in advance if you can answer this. Jan
Carlo 4552 Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Hi, Yes, you need Emby Premiere to use LiveTV & DVR functionality. Once you add a Premiere Key to the server you will be able to manage the channels and of course play them. Carlo
JanS48 2 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Greetings - Install Premier and can now manage Live TV and playlists. In response to this thread 'looping' with the IPTV provider I'm using If I attempt to record two programs simultaneously I do get this looping behavior - I also experienced this with NextPVR. Trickey solution: I have multiple accounts with my IPTV provider If I edit the m3u playlist so that shows to be recorded simultaneously reside in the playlist with different credentials the recordings record perfectly. Frankly this is a pain but for my needs it's a solution. My IPTV provider does say 1 user max per account. I will be seeking out a different IPTV provider that allows for multiple connections on the same account - even it it has an associated cost. The real odd thing here is that ProgDVB and ProgTV3 can make a simultaneous recordings using the same IPTV provider - that said I would not recommend those products to anyone - UI is terrible, and so so many bugs a tap in the wrong places freezes the ProgDVB server - and that happens often. And worse still it will cost you nearly 50 bucks to find all this out the hard way. So far I'm liking emby - just need to figure out everything. Jan 1
Carlo 4552 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 If you have multiple plans setup of the same channels, each with only 1 stream, you could have issues when trying to use multiple streams. When setting each account up in LiveTV did you set the simultaneous stream limit to 1? How many IPTV subscriptions do you have? How many people have access to watch live TV? How many people do you allow to setup recordings?
JanS48 2 Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Thanks for the reply Carlo. Subscriptions: I have 3 accounts with one IPTV provider - this one allows only 1 connection at a time but can be on any device - having 3 accounts does not do any good unless you edit the m3u file to have different accounts on channels to be recorded simultaneously which works fine. I also have another IPTV provider that allows up to 5 connections per account BUT that account is 'welded' to the mac of the 1st device used for each account - and the IPTV providers warns that if I use more than the allotted devices (2 in my case) the account can be shut down. The good news is that I'm 'burning' one of those accounts for my emby server which does make flawless simultaneous recordings with that IPTV provider. I don't know if it's 'ok' to mention un-verified IPTV providers here so I'm not mentioning them. I do however have a much more important question regarding emby - I'll start a new thread but I need to know how to be sure that emby processes all the streams going to clients and NOT have any client(s) query the IPTV provider directly as that will break my contract with them. Thanks in advance Jan

The Emby clients always get the stream from the Emby server, never directly from your provider. 1
