[Bugs & Missing Features] Windows Store App 2.213.2.0

I had the time to test the new Windows Store app a bit more lately.

So I'd like to give the devs some feedback and ask questions other might have as well:

1. No more external player <--- will this be re-added ?

Like a lot of people I prefer to play media with an external player (MPC-HC) that supports madVR

and really miss that option

2. While playback optiones (Cast, Up next,...) can't be closed by a single ESC press most of the time, sometimes I

have to press it up to 3 times. How about readding the button down used in the webapp again ?

3. Configuring Homescreen

In the app I am not able to hide the personal libraries photos and home movies from homescreen, all I can hide is collections and playlists.

For the other 2 there is the checkbox missing.

4. Volume Control

There is no option to tune vol up/down visible in playback mode ?

5. App-Settings -> Remote

Will there be an emby remote on sale or is that just an example ? Looks nice.

6. Register A-Z in library

This triggers me all the time, even at the old ET. Why is the register on the left, while in webapp it's on the right ?

So far....

In TV layouts we put it on the left because you can get to it using fewer taps on the remote.

The built in MPV player is just as good if not better than MPC-HC and madVR thanks to Softworkx.

Emby are also open to adding additional MPV settings overtime to improve performance, but your dealing with small margins here.

You`ll lose functionality using an external player and not gain anything in terms of picture quality.

No, he's not building mpv, so emby is far behind

Not true, unless you want to wait an extreme amount of time, and still be greatly behind development. Options are being excessively curated.

@Eigeplackter I hope you have a lot of patience.

You are right, the picture quality with the built in player is good.

I know that alot of ppl just want an out of the box experience, but some ppl like to tinker

with settings to match their taste (tweak explosions i.e.).

I know the functionality, i.e. positions in replay, will be lost with an ext. player. but I guess I prefer picture quality.

@EigeplackterExternal player support is planned I understand.

@generiqI've been using new MPV weekly builds by overwrting mpv.dll with no issues.

The peak brightness setting is broken with the latest beta or release, so I'm using the portable version you gave me at Xmas.

It shouldn't behave different than in the web app unless the web app has seen some recent changes in this regard.

Not in TV mode, otherwise yes.

@Lukeneeds to explain why. IIRC the argument was that in TV mode you would be using a remote for volume control.

That would be cool, but unfortunately it's just an example indeed.

@softworkz Thanks for your comments.

Maybe I should have mentioned that I use ET in TV-mode in my private home theatre.

Desktop (which is chosen automatically) on 110" isnt fun. 🤪

Webapp

ET

So as Desktop is no real option for me, I'd be more than happy to have a volume control in TV mode as well.

@Luke

And the option to hide the personal libraries isn't available in webapp either, I guess the reason behind that

is you can revoke access to the libraries based on permissions.

While that assumption isn't absolutely wrong, it falls short in my  opinion, as I would have to create an

additional user for ET w/o  access to the private libraries to hide them. I guess you know this poses other problems,

as I wouldn't have a synced play progress between those 2.
